Gents,
In the next couple of months I will be looking at starting a 2nd TOD for those in Europe. Before I commit time and effort into this I need some information, but you might want to read over the TOD rules before you answer. http://events.hitechcreations.com/tod/ (http://events.hitechcreations.com/tod/)
1. What day is better for you or your squad, Saturday or Sunday?
2. What is the name of your squad?
3. Who is the C.O.?
4. How many could they commit to each frame? (4-6) (7-10) (11-15) (16-20) (21-25) (26-30) or more?
In a couple of weeks we will be starting our 2nd TOD. We learned a lot from the first and stand to learn more in this next one. After that is when I plan to look hard at a Euro TOD, but much of that will depend on how you answer here.
Please don't try to pad your committed numbers. If you state your squad can field 16-20 pilots a frame and I look up your squad and see only 12 members I will only count those and will let you know you have a problem with addition.
I hope this will work out, and I look forward to your cooperation.

i feel a bit ripped off.
why do us poor european subsciption payers have to wait 2 months for a chance to play TOD at a resonable hour!
come on!
-
Selector,
Daddog isn't a HTC employee. He won't be paid more because he organizes another TOD at european hours. He'll only gets problems and less time to fly.
So, instead of whining, why don't you get a grip on yourself and organize and run such an event all by yourself? Then you'll realize how it feels to get criticized by some for the effort and work you've done for the community...

Daddog,
:) Mate, you may find a numbers problem if you go down this route. I mean, numbers havnt exactly been awesome for this TOD (not awesome like Afrika or Hostile Shores), numbers will be even less for a Euro TOD simply because there aint as many pilots in Europe as the America's.
Why not just have one TOD? At a reasonable time. Fridays 8pm (EST) aint too bad for us Euro's. Saturdays/sundays anytime 3-8pm (EST) is even better. Attendance would be good cos you've got squads from all over.
I mean come on pal, I've even heard murmerings from US pilots that this TOD is just too damn late at night on the wrong day. No-one hangs around after the flying is over, they're all too knackered after getting up at 5:30am (Ripsnort anyway) to go to work.
One day I'd like to see an arena with squads from all over the planet, but that prolly wont happen for two reasons. 1) the arena capacity aint big enough. 2) For someone somewhere it'll be 4am.
If ya are gonna have two seperate TODs then I need a Euro Squad to accept me as a guest. ;)

So far I have a correction from flossy, a whine from selector, suggestions from swoop and 4 guys from wobble.
And so I am to even going to consider starting a 2nd TOD?
Nope.
Move Friday's "successful" TOD?
Nope.
Swoop you can't compare the weekly TOD's and the Large Multi Frame Events we have 2 or 3 times a year. The TOD's have been by FAR the most successful weekly events Aces High have ever had, and they are only 1 month old. Think about it. Twelve squads every Friday night. I don't know what numbers you expect or want for a weekly event a month old, but the numbers are excellent. :)
If those in Europe want one they have to support it or I will not waste my time or that of the CM Corps.
-
Dad-
1)the 56th has Euro guys that would LOVE a TOD tailored for their hours.
2) ammo is the CO, however I am in CST US. Depending on what time of day it kicks off, I will probably have some US guys that will fly it too.
3) I can commit at this time 4-6, however I am thinking I can get better numbers, more like 7-10 depending on the time of the day.
I have heard some excitement from some of my guys about this. You have our support.
<S>! Thank you for your hard efforts sir.

DDog, if you're unwilling or unable to treat we Euro's on an equal footing as US customers, why don't you get out of the way and allow us to run our own events?
Hitech, Pyro? any reason in particular we have to put up with this?

Some of you are jumping on Daddog a bit hard and for no real warranted reason.
The TOD is all of a month old? and we've just finished our first Tour. This first one was all about getting our feet wet, testing the waters to see how much interest there really is for a weekly event that requires this level of commitment. The Friday night timeslot was chosen because that's when the most amount of players are logged on and playing. It's as simple as that.
Daddog started this thread in an effort to see how many "Euro" squads are "honestly" interested and how many pilots they could commit on a weekly basis.
Selector and Seeker ... if you are interested and want to participate, say so, but don't come in here complaining about feeling ripped off or accusing Daddog of purposely treating you differently because you don't live in the US ... that's roadkill and you know it.
-
Hmmm... I'm on GMT+12. ALL events are some bizzare hour for me - usually very early sunday mornings.
BUT... I still make it and enjoy them. I'd rather get up early for a crowded TOD (ie full of US pilots) than have a timeslot 'comfortable' for me but devoid of attendees.
FER CHRISSAKE U WUSSES -> on the 2nd TOD I actually flew while there was an All Blacks game on. If thats not commitment I dunno what is!!!
-
Seeker? You saying daddog isn't treating Euros on an equal footing is extremely odd considering you posted that in a thread where daddog is looking into the damn *creation* of a Euro TOD. It seems to me you got a helluhva chip on yer shoulder, bud.
I notice you didn't answer a *single question* daddog posed. What exactly is he supposed to take away from this? Why don't you give that a whirl huh?
Here are the questions, again:
1. What day is better for you or your squad, Saturday or Sunday?
2. What is the name of your squad?
3. Who is the C.O.?
4. How many could they commit to each frame? (4-6) (7-10) (11-15) (16-20) (21-25) (26-30) or more?
-
Btw, just where is this groundswell of Euro support? Wobbel pledges 4-6 guys and ammo pledges a few more with squaddies that are already participating in the TOD. So from this we know that a European TOD isn't looking feasible. 13 guys isn't gonna cut it. (There may be many more, but... who's to say? You wouldn't know it looking at the replies here.)
Now... What *could* work is if we created a single TOD at a European/North American friendly time. But you have to look at this another way. Right now we've got about 100 flyers a week at the current time slot (I don't care what anybody says - that's a success). If the TOD *was* moved, who here could guarantee that more people wouldn't be forced to drop out than we would pick up? So far that number is only at about a dozen - so the odds aren't too great there either, and may in fact wreck the one TOD we *know* to be working.
Now the Snapshot is an event that's agreeable to both North Americans and Euros. Do you know how many people showed up for Saturday's Snapshot? Thirteen. Again, it's not exactly an overwhelming show of support.
What else is there to go on?
So look... Check out what daddog's post is saying. A Euro-friendly TOD is being seriously looked into here. Why do you think he posted this? It would be fantastic to have. But except for a couple of people, nobody is helping. If you want it, you really need to demonstrate that and answer the questions he is asking.

Hiya daddog
Thx for trying to organize a Euro friendly
TOD.I flew the last one and had massive fun allthough i didnt hit squat with that german iron coffin :)
We are only 2 euros in our squad but if there would be a possibility to join both timezones that would be great....you should watch me looking in the mirror at 3.45 AM saying to myself...what the F*** are you doing??????
But it's well worth the immersion and the fun.
<S> to all you and all the other guys that help to organize these events
Any time will do for me as the one now hits the Gpoint of the night :)..you dont know if to stay up or if to wake up early.
My proposition if not too many show up for a Euro TOD, is to adjust the time maybe a couple hours ahead or before the now sheduled 10PM eastern on Friday. Not sure if that will maybe drop a lot of US guys or other timezones.

The finnish AH community has been very interested in the ToD. I'm sure there will be more than just LLv34 participating, once the euro ToD starts.

Seeker why the huge attitude?
The AH CM corp has Euro CM's, as well as Pac Rim CM's. When we dropped a snapshot to setup the TOD we didn't drop a Euro friendly time, we dropped the Fri Night snapshot. In no way are the euro players being treated as second class citizens.
We have exactly 1 TOD under our belt, are just getting the automation setup & running (Big <S> to exile) and already daddog is trying to see if the interest is there for a euro TOD.
Could it be the real problem is that you feel YOU should be running events but no one has invited you into the CM corp? Little case of sour grapes perhaps?
We currently have 13 squads signed up & rdy to go for the next TOD. So far I've seen 3 squads provide the info that daddog needs to even consider a euro TOD.
Instead of giving us your attitude go round up the squads, get involved in the solution.
OR go design & run your own event, there is NOTHING stopping you.
-
Im sure air squad would be interested in a TOD at euro times. Several wanted to take part in US one but was a bit too late.
You tell us when its to be & im sure we will be able to field a team of 5-6.
Thanks for at least looking at it. :D
-
Salute!
We aren't a full Euro squad but half our members are Euro :) We run from West Coast to Germany so timeslots are hard for us to find that work for everyone.
1. Either day would work.
2. VMF-115 =Joe`s Jokers=
3. Redwing
4. 4-6
I really hoped that more Euro based squads would reply here. Especially as many screamed when the TOD started. I think if all of them could sign in there would be plenty to do this with.
As a CM I know a TON of work went into getting the TOD set up and even more to make it fly the first time. It has always been the intention of offering another timeslot for the TOD but that won't happen unless there are enough players to fill it out.

We are from North America but a weekend afternoon time works best for us, so count us with the Euros.
1. What day is better for you or your squad, Saturday or Sunday?
Saturday
2. What is the name of your squad?
See sig below
3. Who is the C.O.?
Me funkedup@raf303.org
4. How many could they commit to each frame? (4-6) (7-10) (11-15) (16-20) (21-25) (26-30) or more?
4-6

I live in England right, just north of London. This TOD was at 4am, on a Friday night. I was a little bit drunk, y'know what i mean ;)
We dont want to go and split the numbers up for the TOD, i play a worldwide game to play alongside other countries too, not just this country. We dont want to get everyone to lose interest in it. Its about the time it starts thats all. WE need a more friendly time for everyone, not jsut the US.
I understand fully that maybe more people in the states play this game, due to their population and internet connections, but im sure they can adjust a little in their start time.
Daddog, is it possible to have variating start times? Does it have to be the same start time each week? Maybe where 1 timezone gets up early 1 week, then the other timezone gets up early the next?
Anyway im all for helping us euros out, but dont split the people up in their 'own' TODs.
-
Seeker has a point...
Euro TOD will see what?? 30-40 players up tops?
US TOD saw... 70-100??
Why not save work and effort and schedule 1 TOD in the afternoon CST on a weekend? Summer is over!! more people will be spending more time at home. Winter is coming which we all know is prime gaming time.
Rather see 110-150 in 1 TOD

1 - Sunday probably better for us
2 - "Firebirds" 56(Fighter)Sqn - RAF
3 - Vladd
4 - 4-6 definately, possibly 7-10.
Hope this is a success guys - Good Luck with it.

would it be possible to do snapshots friday and sunday and tod saturday? We no longer do check 6 on sunday and i kinda digged 2 snapshots.
My squaddies and I would prefer a weekend afternoon (est here) over a late friday night.
-
I'd love to play a European friendly TOD. Some of you guys are getting way too uptight about it though. If the time suits I'll join the Vikings on it. If not I wont. Some poor bugger has to organise it after all!
-
This is looking better.
Just a quick & dirty tally shows 43-52 Euro flyers. I didn't count funked's/wotan's desire to move from the current TOD to the Euro timeslot, as I believe daddog's intent here really isn't about the timeslot specifically, he just wants to know how many Europeans would be interested in this event.
And yeah, the numbers are getting much better.
Keep the replies coming, and let other potentially interested squads know about this survey if they don't already. The more you bring on board, the stronger your case. Things are looking up.
-
Also remember this is not a poll just for a European TOD but a TOD with Euro friendly timing :) VMF-115 has currently about 8 flying regularly.. with 1/2 being in Europe. It just makes it easier on us as a whole :)

oh i should have said that 3 of the seven that flew tod with jv44 were from europe :)
-
there are at least 4 assasins that can make it like on a sunday afternoon, like late afternoon or something around there.. 1 pacific 4 eastern or something
mabye more assasins can make it but i figured id just let you know that if you do it at a time like on weekend afternoon at say 4 pm then alot of non euros will fly in it too...
plus its like at 10 pm in europe so thats good for them too!
-
Hi Daddy,
1. Sunday
2. 4° Stormo Caccia "F. Baracca"
3. Naso
4. 3-4
(at least 4, including me, have guaranteed maximum effort to participate, the others are still in holiday, will answer when back home)
Thx for your efforts, S!
-
Yeah Rocket. It,s not a European based TOD necessarily but a European time zone we're interested in mostly.
-
Euro evening slot Sat or Sun.
Like Swoop our squad is VMF 323 and US based.
Being UK based myself I had to miss the 1st TOD.
I can commit me, myself, I.
So guess that leaves me looking for a guest slot with Swoop.

Cav you can guest with the Jokers np bro!
Always happy to have a MAG-33 brother with us!

Sunday would be great !
i'd like to be guest on one of the squads .. Swoop ? Rocket ? :)
IMO the timeslot at around 23:00 CET would be awesome because that would be 17:00 EST and that on a sunday should also give quite a US participation, while still not being too late for Euros.
-
Wait wait!!
Duck, 23:00 for an event that can last 2 hours or more means 1:00 of monday for the end, not including eventually the work on AAR, and the possibility of a later starting time for any reason.
Monday is a work day, and a lot of my squadmates (including me) have to go in jai... ehm... at work, woking up early (6:30 for me).
22:00 or 21:00(better for eastern countrymen) is a better time, IMHO.
-
I am easy on time and day. All i need is a squad to have me for TOD and thats me :) happy

well Naso so do I .. Austria is the same time zone as Italy...
my suggestion would hae been LATEST start time 23:00.. and yea i think staying up till 1am is prety reasonable once a week (most folks are useless on mondays anyways ;))

So I am! ;)
BTW, I'm scared by the "60% show up, or we throw you out" rule.
As for Murphy's law. ;)
My squad have a... ehm... high age average, so real life have a strong influence :)
Anyway, as the boss decide (CMs ;) ).

I cant believe you can have anything but appreciation for what daddog has done for all of us.If you think its so easy to organise and then RUN these events you are living in a dream world.I took command of axis in 1 event(just turned up and volenteered to lead) and believe me it was STRESSFULL.Almost made it unenjoyable for me until it finished and i got that sense of accomplishment.
Daddog I only wished you WAS european then we'd have you to organise for us at times convenient to you :)
I appreciate all those events you've done and that ive had the oppertunity to participate in.Please dont give up on us Euros.Just seems that most europeans have ignored this TOD forum because they have assumed its US timed.perhaps a few messages in the normal forums to drum up recognition of what you want from them would get more replies.I have only popped in here a few times because i wasnt aware there was a Euro timed TOD on offer.
If you think i could help just ask and i'll do what i can, starting with a note in my squads forum to let them know a Euro TOD is a possibility.
