I got the "patch failed" message also today but haven't encountered any issues in the game. At least not yet.

You will have problems.  That file is a critical file.

The only way to fix it is to install the full version of the game OVER THE TOP of the existing game installation.  Nothing will be lost if you do that.

Just out of curiosity what sort of problems could I face??

As I say i had this with the last patch and played most days till this patch with no issues other than a couple of host lost connections... and yesterday after posting above spent a few hours playing with no noticeable issues.... other than getting dead a lot more .... but I think that is user error more than anything  hahahaha

User interface issues, could crash the game and so on.

Will a new installation over the top of the existing installation reprogram my existing settings? Also, to be clear, I assume over the top means not to uninstall the existing game first.

It reset all my gun sights to defaults.

Can you rerun the patch from the AH temp directory?

Yes. Just hoping that it isn't corrupted.

No.  Installing the full release, over the top of the existing installation will not change any of your settings.  Not one.

Correct.  DO NOT REMOVE YOUR CURRENT GAME INSTALLATION (yes, I meant to shout that).

It reset all my gun sights to defaults.

Let me guess.  You allowed Oculus to do the update?  There is no way to tell Oculus not to update those files.  They see the file as being changed and they restore them.

We are going to have to find another way for those custom files to be installed without Oculus knowing about it.

You can try, as it will not hurt anything, but chances are it will fail again.  I would suggest making sure nothing is running on the desktop, shut down any anti-xxx software, and moving it off the SSD to a regular HD.

NOTEIf you move it to an HD, from the SSD, be sure to run the game from the new location before running the patch or the patch program will not find the right game version to install over.

Don't have Oculus.  I downloaded the installer from the HTC website and ran it.

Maybe it reset my gun sights because I was using a custom sight.  ???    :headscratch:   Not a big deal to change them back since I use the same sight for all fighters.

Ahhh, the full installer might do that.  It does have all the default gun sites with it.

Hmmm.  Ok, we need to fix this.
