Just a thought, color code new players icon and name for say 60 days. This would allow us to assist them in getting started, and hopefully reduce our "clubbing baby seals" because we don't know they are new.

By reducing seal clubbing I assume you mean showing it to enemies as well?
I don't think you've thought your cunning plan all the way through. People would target it too.

Something on friendlies would be good, with an option to turn it off (ie. Are you sure? You cannot revert this change.). Enemies would abuse it unfortunately, but at least friendlies could help out.

this is fine if you want to target new players, you can look at the roster to see who may be new.
sorry Kenai but this is a bad idea.

LOL some of these folks would send the seal in low to drag the cons down..... just scream when you see red. :rofl

I dont think he meant on the roster, only the friendly icon (green) on the player in the air would show the "newbi" color. I know it would put me into a more "protect the new guy" mode while he tried to kill a lone target instead of jumping in.
Knowing he was a newbi would also open up more conversations. As it is now most conversations I get with newbs is on the "orange" channel. If only friendlies can see it I think it would help more than be abused.

I have to put my foot down.... I am not getting into my 2s.

I was thinking this same thing just the other day. It would be helpful if a brand new player was marked somehow so that we could easily identify them and offer help. This would need to be visible to teammates only. So a +1 for this idea.

Well Wiley, that was my initial thought, but your probably right. If it showed for both friendly & enemy some would take advantage of it. However, as Fugitive mentioned it would work for in country quit well. It would also need to be limited to 30 to 60 days.
