Very interesting , thanks for posting, you got to wonder why they couldn't restart?  That forced shut down because of a  reverser deployment snafu must be by fuel cut off with a value that they can't address via the startup checklist?

40 minutes to wait for a tow?

40 minutes to wait for a tow?

It's the way the Japanese business operate. Just in time logistics,  The airline has just enough tugs to move it's aircraft and each departure needs a tug, travel time to the next tug assignment and so on.  All of sudden you need to send a tug on a two mile run one way, with a hour tow . making a number of your departures late.  You know that aircraft is not going anyplace, is safe on the ground, let it wait. That is the reality of just in time logistics.  Forty minutes isn't to bad.

We had a similar issue on the EMB-145.   It would happen on taxi.   It turned out that guys were moving the start selector too quickly.   The sequence is STOP-RUN-START-RUN.   You’re supposed to pause for two seconds in RUN before engaging the start sequence to allow the FADEC to test.    I think this was fixed with a software update.

I am sure the 787 issue is something similar.

40 minutes to wait for a tow?

Not unheard of even during regulars Ops.
