Thank you to Lyric1 for finding me the info for this skin.
This is the Ki-61 of Sgt Matsumi Nakano of the Special Attack Detachment of the 244th Fighter Group based at Chofu near Tokyo in February 1945. This was a volunteer flight of pilots drawn from all three squadrons of the group whose mission was to ram B-29s in order to bring them down. With this in mind their aircraft were stripped of armament and armour to allow them to more easily intercept the American bombers.
On 3rd December 1944 Nakano was one of three pilots involved in the flight's first attack, each of whom managed to successfully ram a B-29. Nakano brought down the 498th BG aircraft of Lt Fetter by chewing through its tail, later belly landing his crippled plane in a field. Both the other pilots also survived their ram attacks and all three were awarded the Bukosho, Japan's highest award for valour. Nakano rammed and brought down a second B-29 on 27 January 1945, surviving another belly landing. He is also credited with shooting down a B-29 and two F6Fs in conventional attacks.

:aok and thanks for sharing the historical info as well. Particularly interesting for me right now as I'm just finishing reading a book that get's into detail on all aspects of Japan's late war Kamikaze approach, including the rammings that were not necessarily suicide.
