Title: Whats the word on WOP???
Post by: DLXIRON on February 15, 2019, 01:38:39 PM

Just went in there and the drones are gone.  Really seems like the energy in that project has died.  Any word on its future?  I kinda like playing it but could only stand about twenty minutes a day when no one else would pop in.

I seem to spend more time lately in WOP than I do the MA. Sad but even with it's retarded FM I have a better time in WOP. There's no dogfighting in the MA anymore, everyone that is left in AH MA is preoccupied with winning the war and ACM isn't relevant to that end.

Does anyone know how the ELO rating system works?
The higher the number means what?

Thanks

Yes,

Its like the chess ELO system. You start of with 1200 ELO points. If you lose you will lose points. If you win you gain points. How many points? Well that depends on the ELO of the player you are fighting has. Lets say you have 1200 points and your enemy has 2000 points. IF you win you will gain alot of points. If you lose you will lose just a few points. But if he looses he will lose alot of points or when he wins he will gain very little.

In chess the world best have around 2700-2900 points and they will not gain many more points.
Very good players have between 2000 and 2400 points. These players are no joke and likely have studied chess for years.
1600-2000 are usually talented players.
1000-1600 players have a basic understanding on the game but will make mistakes.
Below 1000 well these players are missing some experience. But be careful they might surprise you.

The more games you play the more accurate your ELO will become.

Now in a game like AH there are not enough players around to get a very high ELO or it to be very accurate. But it is still a good indication.

Can't buy that.  You don't try to up and provide a CAP for the base under attack?  Must be lots of targets there?  Or perhaps fly a BARCAP along a route of ingress. Targets there?  How can you say there is no dogfighting?  What time and days are you flying?

Because in most cases when you engage the enemy runs/ignores the attacker and so no fight. Your squad is guilty of this a bit as well. You guys work to hit the targets assigned and will ignore any attacking planes until the target is down, THEN you engage .... with one engine out, missing a flap or rudder or alliron or two  :devil.

Few defend bases these days. Most try to roll bases and either avoid a fight to get bombs on target, or move to another base for their attack instead of fighting their way through.

One thing you don't want to do is get in a fight while loaded down with ords.

There were 198 people on Sunday evening and there were fights all over.

I often worry that we lose human interaction...

So many of the younger bunch are going to game consoles instead of computers.

I have often been told "oh the numbers are ok"... only to know better because our numbers were higher in MA and we had three arenas in AHII...

Does HT have a way to submit surveys and know why numbers are low?

Personally, I'm flying less only because I miss having EW, MW and LW/MA.  It was fun to fly all three.  AvA is usually silent as well as the WWI arena.  Sometimes they aren't, I'll give you that, but it's not like it was in AHII.

I've not tried the WOP game yet, but downloaded it.  Considering looking at it.

I enjoyed the MW arena myself. Best and set.

Those who wanted the WWI arena really didn't. They would be there and it would be populated.

The bottom line is most humans are never fully happy with anything.

Look at AVA... it is "historical" and even folks are wanting a historical arena.... but they do not go there.
