Post by: Masherbrum on February 25, 2019, 03:37:04 PM: Over the weekend we lost another great man.

At 11:41PM EST on 2/24/19, Joseph "Alaskn" Paddock passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was a member of the Most Wanted and was a great man. I've been asked by his son to inform all of you as he told me: "He loved flying. I don’t know how many times I got called in to help fix something so he could get back in the air." Most of us parents can relate to this and laugh our butts off at it, as did Joe.

At the 2008 Dayton Gathering I was able to spend quite a bit of time with the Most Wanted and we closed two bars in just arriving that Friday night. The bar tab was most impressive and I still laugh at Joe, Forker and biker1 slapping my hand away with a sizable chunk of the bill. While they argued/laughed at who was springing for it. Which then caused all of us to start laughing.

I just wanted to let all of you know, who might have knew him in game. We knew he was fighting, but didn't realize that the pace was dialed up a few notches in the last few months. So in closing I ask that you raise one for a fantastic man. The Paddock family does genuinely wish all of AH the best.

I have been blessed with his friendship and have many fond memories from Air Warrior conventions to the many years in Aces High. I remember at one Air Warrior convention in Indianapolis, I walked over to White Castle and bought one of those huge take-out boxes of around 50 burgers late one night. I walked into the convention room and Joe looked at the box, then into my eyes and said: "Gimme, Gimme". :grin: Many times I would be in a pickle with enemy planes and I would hear on vox: "I'm coming in Jim", then: "he's dead Jim, you're clear". I'm sure many of us have great memories of Joe. His passing is a great loss to us all.

i encountered him many times in a P38 and he was a really good stick...a frustrating one to say the least to fly against and I lost more times than I won. He will be sadly missed by the community :(

I first met Joe at the Indianapolis convention and we got on well ever since even being Squad mates in Most Wanted for awhile, the fun part of the evenings were when Joe had someone steal one of his kills now you could learn some new words over vox. Joe was always fun to fly with and will be missed by many, he will always have my respect.

I understand the need for Privacy! Just wish we could have had a heads up, on this! This sort of stuff TOTALLY WRECKS ME! Save my friend...your were blessed to know him better than most of us! SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS :pray

Post by: alskahawk on March 10, 2019, 06:58:05 PM: I was very saddened to hear today that my good friend died. Last I heard from him he was going up to Anchorage for some treatments. Obviously he kept the pain to himself.
We first met back in the 90s on Air Warrior. He was in my squad there. After that broke up I followed him into the Birds of Prey and then to Loose Deuce.

Our friend ship started because of this online gaming thing and it grew when I got to meet up with him at the Air Warrior convention in Indianapolis around 1996.

It was funny, in the game he would get pissed off and rage quit almost daily. In real life though he was a fun easy going guy. He loved to laugh and have fun. We shared a native heritage and had many things in common even though our lives had taken totally different paths. I got to share a couple of vacations in Alaska with him. Good memories. Dinners, beer, fishing on his boat. My family, his wife Sheri hanging out having fun. Good friend. He is missed.
