Title: Bf 109G-2 "Black 6"

This is an adoption of Rogerdee's original skin. This aircraft is often listed as belonging to 8./Jg 27 in photos, and this skin was named as such by Roger, but research indicates that it was actually used by 8./Jg 77 in late October and early November 1942. It was discovered damaged by the RAAF at the recently abandoned Gambut Main airfield in Libya on Nov. 13. The aircraft was repaired in the field to a flyable condition and eventually shipped to England for in-depth evaluation.

It was restored to flying condition in the 1980's and took flight in 1991 as part of the Duxford collection. A crash landing in 1997 resulted a decision to only restore the plane to a static display piece. "Black 6" can be seen today at the RAF Museum at Hendon.
