How are these training bombs carried? Are they on a special carrier on the same pylon?

Same pylon.

I *finally* found a picture of the mk76 training bomb being carried. Bet the bird hit that and caused some sort of electrical short.

Interesting, a bird strike does what a 40 MM antiaircraft round didn't do in either gulf war.

They still got the ole chicken shooter at my local AFB in their wind tunnel. Not in use of course. But it’s there for this reason as well as checking windows with it :D

They didn't have the wind tunnel but the chicken launcher worked great. They fired it at small aircraft windshields (from wrecked craft).

I thought they were BDU-33's?

I believe the MK-76 is the U.S. Navy designator for the same practice bomb used by the Air Force, the BDU-33. Both designators are for the same blue 25 pound practice bomb simulating the MK-82 500lb general purpose bomb.

OOPS. My bad fellers :uhoh Somebody said they saw Puma44 in a Wirb, parked on the edge of the Target Area. I saw something resembling his Wirb...but dropped too low. Bird Strike was just me trying to hide a MISS. Dang Film Viewer, should have known the truth would get out :devil
