Can anyone advise me how to edit the message that pops up when you join a H2H game explaining the rules of that terrain?

Look at the 1.07 readme file.

"Added Message of the Day capability for H2H hosts.  motd.h2h is the file name that you must have in the ../HTC/Aces High/ directory.  Make sure this is a text only file and not a Word document."

So I'm assuming that you open this with notepad and add what ever you want to it.
