Title: Hurricane Dorian
Post by: SIM on September 05, 2019, 08:37:09 AM
Folks along the South Carolina and North Carolina coasts stay safe! Am in Florence SC waiting out the storm right now. The weather channel is reporting mass power outages, dont believe those idiots, but please do be prepared for outages to happen.

I used to enjoy watching the weather channel when they actually showed the weather until they went to the reality tv everyone-is-going-to-die doom and gloom format

Yeah, when it was almost a solid 23hr showing of weather.  But I didn't mind the little tid-bits they showed at like 1-2am though, and even then it was only for 30m-1hr.  How a tornado/hurricane is formed, what causes severe thunderstorms, etc.  I liked how they changed up the BGM during the holiday's as well, not to mention that the BGM they had up in general was oddly soothing.  What I also liked is how they did the visuals for the weather as well.  I remember when it was quite generic, but was slowly updated to a pretty neat visual with effects.  More than a few times I spent a few hours watching it. :)

But as you have said, it's no longer a weather channel.  "WTF!?  DAMN IT!  I've got some weather crap showing on my "weather channel"!" :noid

The local forecast music was nice.

BTW The local forecast software/hardware was called Weatherstar. The 90's version was Weatherstar 4000.

This link will create your own classic weather channel forecast complete with music   https://battaglia.ddns.net/twc/#

you guys are lucky, where I live spectrum has at least 3 warnings a day that last for 5 minutes about flooding and we look outside not a cloud in sight.  it stops even premium channels, it's so stupid.
