Yep, same here.  :(

I tried removing the video.cfg file or even the whole settings-directory, no help. I'll re-install the editor and see if that helps.

Did you leave the 1.03 version of the editor there and update it with this one.  (1.03 ver is required)

If you had a shortcut for the editor on your desktop it is for the aheditor.exe which is for 1.03 ver

Ver 2.00 comes with a new .exe file
ahedito2.exe

Yes, I read the instructions when i  installed it, and if you look, the file causing the illegal operations is:AHEDITOR2 I am pretty sure it's a DX8 problem, as i cannot run dx8 AH Beta with my voodoo3. I am trying to present feedback mainly to htc on what happened when i ran the program with my system. If i knew what other info to give them i would.  :)

Hell, i'd send them my registry if i thought it'd help  :D

Hopefully They will be able to isolate the prob they've been having with DX8, and i'll still be able to fly AH when 1.08 comes out. If not, i'm out till i upgrade my Video Card (which will be about 6 months  :( )

<S!> thanks for the response!

Hamish, good observation. I just tried the DX8Beta9 and it doesn't work on my computer either.  These might be related.

I have voodoo3 2000 and soundbaster16, running windows 2000me and have dx8 and havn't a problem.

I have this new editor installed over my 1.03 version of the editor in my HTC folder with my 1.07 version of aceshigh  not the beta version of aces high.

I havn't any problems running the program.

OKay this might be coming clear, I have win 98SE. You have ME. I might try getting a copy of ME then, or just wait for XP. I HOPE that's what the prob is. The whole DX8 thing is buggin me to no end.

Pokie, which Voodoo3 drivers are you using? I think that might be the key to this...

I'm using the latest beta drivers. Neither AHDX8 or TE2 works.

I'm using version  1.07.00 ( Nov 30/2000 ) for my voodoo3 2000PCI video card.

I know that it listed in the list of drivers that the driver for the voodoo3 2000PCI for windows2000 supports dx8 but it didn't say that for windowsME.

I got windowME so maybe I'm lucky that it's working.

Okay gotta write this quick, i tried the TE2 on a new system i bought for my wife today (yeah she's got a better one than me now, but for only 6 months)

Here's what's happened so far:

loaded up fine went to editing screen. threw a quick terrain with one large field in it ( i like the new large field btw) built terrain, and went into AHDX8 beta to fly in it. so far so good. went to hanger, selected a b17, and went on runway, all fine. My mouse stopped working at this point. I exited plane, mouse started working again. but the spawn points all dissappeared from clipboard except for "hanger" spawn point.

all the testing i had time for, gotta get back to packing

system specs: Windows ME
              1.4ghz P4
              128MB RAM
              64MB GF2 MX
              driver NVIDIA 4.12.01.0758

drool i can't wait to get back from my cruise and i get to build my own  :)

I bet you got the first field bug!

When you placed the 1 large airfield what did you select has field #.

Your choices would have been field 1 or field 2.

Hanish did you perchance not have a joystick?

If so you need to hold the right mouse button down for it to slect stuff when in flight.

Ahh, no i didn't. Haven't plugged it in yet till i get done packing my seabag for tomorrow. Then i'll plug it in for one last night of flying. I'm going to take my other PC with me and keep trying it out till i get it workin tho   :)

I did choose 1 as the field, there's a Field 1 bug?  i guess i missed it some time back or something...
And how do you avoid it?

Hey there Pokie, 10Bears

I notice you delete F01TWR0 be careful with that you could crash program. Another way is place A1 where you want go into the oba file find F01TWR0 and delete whole line, now find F01TWR1 and replace it with F01TWR0. Your default tower should now be a1

Thanks 10bears, will try that method too. Since i won't be able to get online, i'm gonna spend the next 6 months fiddling with the Terrain Editor in my off-hours. Maybe even try to develope some good h2h terrains, or even a "historical" one. I appreciate all the help, tips, and general assistance.

Thanks 10Bears

Thats what I was doing before, but since the last editor and this editor2 has been working pretty stable on my computer I've been doing it this way.

Camouflage I'm a computer dummy so I'm not much help.

I was wondering does it make any difference if your video settings in the editor or the game was set the same as your desktop.

You may be looking at a new video card, I know I will soon.  Thinking about a  NVIDIA card.

I owe you a beer or two, mate!  It WORKED!!  :D  I'll head into the game now and see how the frames are.

Thanks a million!

Heh, and I thought of myself as somewhat computer literate.  ;)

I rejoiced too early.  TE2beta doesn't work.  :(  DX8beta works, although frames are a bit lower than with "regular" AH.

That was the same for me with the dx8 aceshigh version of the game.  Ran slower so I'm staying with the regular version.

P.S. Funny your dx8 version works now but not the editor2.  If you installed the lastest drivers to run the dx8 game and it's not to your liking I wonder if you uninstalled DX8a driver and install DX7.  I wonder if the editor2 would work then.

Now I'm saying this without looking to see if the editor2 needed DX8

I was wonder if you try wickedGL driver.  I had used it before, last year with playing Quake2.

I give you 1 site, may have something there that will help.  They were for voodoo cards.
