Title: Mama's Boy
Post by: Greebo on November 14, 2019, 07:44:51 AM
Thanks to Lyric1 for finding me the info for this skin.

This is "Mama's Boy" the P-38J of Captain Edwin Wasil of the 55th Fighter Squadron, 20th Fighter Group. As part of the USAAF's 8th Air Force this group's main role was to provide fighter escort for heavy bombers. Increasingly though they were employed on ground attack missions and the 20th became known for their prowess in destroying trains. In June 1944 the group was tasked with providing fighter cover for Operation Overlord and their P-38s were painted in the distinctive black and white D Day stripes.

Nice Greebo!  Is this for the MA skin list?

Yes this is for the MA, there are at least a dozen open MA skin slots for each of the three of the P-38 variants so no problem there. One restriction on what I can skin is the stretched textures on the tops and bottoms of the fuselage and booms, which stop me doing some of the shark mouthed and checkered schemes. Also a lot of the more well known P-38 schemes have already been skinned and quite a few of these existing skins are not up for adoption.

I just adopted one.   If there’s a scheme you are interested in and don’t see it could be my fault.   I don’t mind letting you have it.

I’ll be starting work on it over Thanksgiving so just let me know.

No problem Vraciu, there are plenty of schemes and slots to go round. Which one did you adopt?

The odd thing is I think some of the skinners whose P-38 skins can't be adopted have been absent from the game for years. So either these players kept their accounts open or HTC haven't updated the list of skinners with active accounts for that long.

Don't worry, I'm sure I'll be doing some 80th FS P-38 skins.
