I don't think I've heard this one mentioned before but if it has been please feel free to blast away.
I'm not saying it's the answer but maybe it's something.
What if?
There was a squad in each country that new players were automatically given membership to that had friendly people would help them get up and running.
Maybe a friendly welcoming with some training wheels would help?
Just an idea!

I think it is a decent idea.
I was in a sim a million years ago that had a squad like that (unofficial). I think they were called the Crash Test Dummies. Their purpose was to train-up newbies, get them used to working together as a team, and after 6 months or so graduate them and find them placement in one of the main squads. I think other than the founders, you had to graduate eventually. They had enough time to vouch your your temperament and could tell the squads what kind of player they'd be getting.

What time of day, in their time zone, would they have to fly for this benefit?
Granted prime time US is where we have the most people and likely the most new people but if you put an Aussie into a squad that he never sees that won't help.
It's a good idea to invite new people into your squad but I see obvious staffing issues with 3 newbie squads. Why not just invite new people into your current squad if they play when you play?
