Well at 84 he sure had a good run.

Salute to a fellow Marine, may he long be remembered.

He never served in the military and I don't think he made the honorary list, though, yeah, I hope he's long remembered.
-
I remember he was driving drunk and did a headon a kid in another car seriously injuring him long time ago. Think he was convicted and spent time just doing Home Arrest. Oh well Actors uggh lol I like his films just almost killing an innocent kid is pretty bad Good luck at the pearly gates

I remember watching Baa Baa Black Sheep religiously as a kid.

????????? "never served in the military"? Did I miss something? :headscratch:

Pappy Boyington died in 1988, and yes, he was a Marine and commanded VMF-214.

Robert Conrad portrayed him but wasn't him.

My mistake, for some reason I thought you were talking about the real Boyington. Stupid me, I realize he died years ago. Need to read more carefully. So embarrassing. :o

Happens to me more often than I'd care to admit. No worries.
-
Yea, I misread that too but gotta say, who cares? He was just an actor, I know plenty of way better people that have died and didn't make the news.

You are definitely not the first here to make a mistake. We have a club. :D

Conrad, however, did play the ace (was the face) and inspired more than one AH player. I really enjoyed BBB. He wasn't a perfect guy in real life but who really is? Like most of the celebrities that pass and I post about, it's up to the individuals of the community to choose to add if they want to recognize or not. You won't generally see me posting about the deaths of evil or notorious people.

You may be the first to admit to making a mistake? :rofl

Robert Conrad inspired plenty of pilots.
My dad's house in glenview was a converted barn formerly owned by Robert Conrad's dad.
Conrad Sr. had a legit radio station run out of the garage.
