I Just wanted to say how much I appreciate and enjoy the Main Arena. There are things I would change in it, and things I would do away with, but that goes for anything in life. The best and worst part of the arena is that it is a free for all. I like that it has all the different types of players, and player options. The fact that BnZers, turn and burn maniacs, and all things in between exist in the same arena is great. Not to mention the GV animals! I like that when I dive into a field to try and damage something, I could be facing auto guns, or some maniac that has perfected their gunnery skills to the point that in mid dive I can find myself in the tower! Or when you are fangs out turning and trying to best someone in a closely matched dogfight, someone can come from altitude and tear you a new behind if you don't pay attention. The MA is no respector of persons, and I find that exhilarating. It should probably come with a disclaimer though, as it can make your heart race! :x
Okay, what does everyone else like about the Main Arena? I don't want to see the normal complaints, just what you like. We have more than enough threads about what people don't like, let's see what you do like. And I don't really care what you think of me, my squad, or anything but the subject matter, this is a bulletin board, don't expect it to be any kind of debate. I just would love to see what people like or love about the MA.
And oh by the way....If you are new, and you are playing in the MA, don't get too worked up if it has it's difficulties. Find a squad that you fit into, and learn from some of the older hands at this. Also, figure out how to detune 200 in the beginning at least, as there are a few people who are egomaniacs that try to talk smack to almost everyone. Don't sweat them, ignore or make light of them like the rest of us. Remember this is a game, and if you're not having fun playing it, there's no point to it.

P.S. Thanks for the hours of fun I have had with this game and Warbirds before this one HTC. Your efforts have made countless hours of fun possible for me! <<<S>>> :aok

We share a few reasons for enjoying the MA, primary the wide range of players. I fly with the Freebird$ as my home squad, however I do try to run as many "MA Missions" as I can. Friday nights before FSO I normally try to get a bunch of people together for mass bombing raids or strat runs. Its neat to see people from other chess pieces change sides just to fly with fellow bomber pilots in coordinated operations. Not to mention all the fighter squads that lend pilots as little friends to protect the flock. Then there is the scale of the map, its huge... You can have a massive GV battle raging at one airfield and 200 miles away bombers can be wrecking strats and anything else between, I have yet to find another game that pulls that off like Aces High III.
Thanks for the positive post, but above all remember...
We must protect the sheep at all costs...

Thanks Trev95! I like your points there.......and you're right
We must protect the sheep at all costs! :rock :rock

The one thing that stand out to me is how helpful people can be. I've been tracked many times and was surprised how often and how far people would run sups to you.

THIS IS A GAME?!!!! OMG, all this time I thought it was real life!! LOL if I'm around or if you happen to come in the AVA for Monday night madness, I'm always happy to help anyone who asks for it. so are the rest of the guys.

The game's at its best when you've got a committed attempt at moving mud and a committed attempt to defend the bases. Many on many fights are the very best thing they do here, and you never know what you're going to be up against. Sometimes it's a fighter sweep, sometimes it's a bunch of bombers, sometimes it's bombers with escorts. And sometimes you guess wrong with your plane choice and wind up flying into multiple formations of B17s in a 109F and have to try to do your best with what you've got.
The greatest strength in the game and the greatest weakness is the people are free to figure out how to do what they want to do. That creates opportunities for certain strategies to rise to the top that are very effective, but you're not locked into them completely either.

Are yall all sick? I thought it was not fashionable to talk highly of the game we love. :aok

The MA suits my short attention span. I can join and leave when I want, switch from front to front, attack, defend, support. Try different rides and tactics and fly with, and against, different players. Fun stuff. :D

It's good to see people enjoying the Main Arena. After all, it's just a temporary place while we wait for the release of E.T. The Extraterrestrial The Game for PC. :devil

Thanks Gents for the great comments, I'm glad that you all love this game as much as me! I love the people that are good natured and fun in here, and the .... less good natured ... are not too distracting if you can ignore them! I like that we're starting to see missions again, they are usually a blast when people work together! I have yet to make a monday night madness in the AVA, as I usually have something going on Monday night, but I look forward to it when I finally remember in time! :salute you bunch of mad miscreants!

+1 on MA Missions.

I enjoy most of the aspects mentioned above. I particularly enjoy scenarios, and prep by using the MA as a place to try to improve my flying skills. I particularly enjoy that you never quite know what you're going to run into, and I think a lot of what keeps me here (other than an addiction to WW2 aviation from growing up right after the war with a dad who started his aviation career in Navy aviation) is the endless challenge of trying to survive in the endless array of situations you encounter in this game! :airplane:
I wish hitech a long and fruitful career keeping this game going! :salute

+1 on MA Missions.
Looking forward to more missions in the MA. I have great memories of having a being in a whole GROUP of Jugs sneaking through a canyon to attack a base, and the ensuing furball. I wish we could get back to that player count and involvement!
Standing by Trev for missions, just keep in mind that me and Sval are proud Knights :salute

I will make one of Trev's setups for sure.

Good to read something like this on the forums! Oh I would say all hail Hi-Tech but am still waiting on my mig-3 lol :cry so he only gets a simple thank you from old Tactus for all the fun he had provided for the last 20 years.
