Greetings!
Been a while.
Now, sitting at home, waiting to the situation to get normalised, i have had some nostalgic contemplation about this game.
All i need is - stick, puter, mike, time, time, time...
Please help me out a bit. What are the main arena peak and off-peak numbers? How the gameplay is looking like nowadays (literally, can one find a dogfight)? Any long time flyers out there i might know from 10 years ago? Also, what is the hardware that can run this game well (not maxed out, just "well")?
Thanks in advance,
-
it must be comeback week
I have seen 120-170 in MA
I was able to get a system from Newegg.com for $500 that plays Aces High and DCS with no problem. Made by cobratype computers. works very well.

Yo man! #s have been improving this month. I saw just about 200 on the other weekend. I think it really depends on maps and how long they are up. I've been seeing about 170 on average.
Id say the fights are decent, albeit still a lot of hoarding. Unfortunately, Lazy BNZ is the new "cool" so you aren't going to have many who really know ACM. Good luck getting anyone to the Match Play for a 1v1. Many are scared crapless to actually learn ACM by 1v1. I guess certain players ruined it with their ego YouTube videos...
The MA is still quite challenging which makes it fun, but can be frustrating to some. It is still sorta slow in the off hours, but I think that is picking up a little. That's where you will get your best 1v1 non gang fights. I think the maps really matter in the off hours as to your frequency of actual fights.
We need all the players we can get back to build up the #s and have mega furballs again. Come on back! I think you'll find plenty to shoot at.
:salute

Thanks for the feedback!
Exactly what i wished to hear, 150+ at peak hours is pretty decent.
Trying to make some hardware to work. Oldie but goodie.
edit: i hope that old puter still knows some ACM

I've got a film from around 2008 or 2009 of me and you in a hell of a dogfight...I was still veritably new and came across a lone ju87...little did I know...over 5 minutes later and full of awful rifle round holes I died...when I saw who killed me I knew why but couldn't understand how...its people like you that kept me around...to understand how
Glad you're doing well :salute

I
-cannot feel the stall, airspeed, torque
-cannot aim
-cannot see anything out of that monkey cage g6
-cannot see the tiny little gauges inside the g6
-dont remember any of the controls, main keys, main settings, the first take off took like an hour
-was horribly outflown by everyone...
still was a blast, absolutely worth it
If you see me on (possibly late afternoon in US timezone) and not ashamed to pound the ground with a baby seal, just PM me and ill be up for some DA rust shaking.

Debrody, look in your settings folder. For example, C:\Hitech Creations\Aces High III\settings\chfighterstickusb.jsm if you're using a CH products Fighter stick pro. It's a text file of your stick mapping. You'll find your joystick setting there. First line is mode 1, second is mode 2 etc. at each hat direction or button. Same for the throttle, and rudder pedals.
Then practice over the weekend and if you can, on Monday, fly Monday Night Madness in the AvA at 5 pm EST. You'll die A-LOT the first hour and a half or so, with 26 fighters confined in about 3 square miles, but then it'll start coming back. For weekend practice, there is a H2H room running 24/7 named "Free New Player Tiny Arena". It has lots of ground targets to practice against until someone comes in but watch the enemy ground ack, it's set to 20 times normal.
I don't know your time zone, but US afternoons and prime EST it takes about 30 minutes for someone to come into that room.
The 109f-4 is enabled for both sides.
Also Spit 5, 110c-4, and for GVs, the M8 and Jeep. That's all, no perkies.
Welcome back

Any BKs still around?
-
I'm contemplating subbing aswell I looked at DCS but I don't feel like getting a pilot license to play a game.
For now I'm stalking the numbers in the MA, the lowest I've seen it dip is in the 30's, wich is a big improvement over a few months ago....

Furball was playing a week or two ago. Other than him, Joach1m was the last BK but that was a year or two ago.

This is what i am missing the most, only a very few are playing from those who were dedicated 1v1 monsters 10 years ago. Koth would be awesome, but my weird timezone does not allow me to take part.

Monday night madness is 8pm EST not 5pm EST. come check it out. fog, skyscrapers, wind above 4k, common vox with lots of banter and fun. its like cheers, everyone knows each other and its a blast!

:salute I can't believe it's been decades.
I'm also winding myself back into the addiction. I'm about to buy a full new rig, and securing all the necessary clearances from the squadron CO (the wife) to jump back into the virtual cockpit.
Hope to see you soon.
