Title: VE Day
Post by: Oldman731 on May 08, 2020, 05:46:24 PM
I'm surprised at the lack of interest in the 75th anniversary of the end of the war in Europe.

Arlo, where are you with those photos?

A normal 4th of may in the Netherlands VS this year's.  In a way this was very impactful. This year it's the first time in 75 years the Dam was abandoned. Last time this happened was during the war.

We were in a restaurant in Amsterdam on Remembrance Day last year.  Despite its simplicity, we found it incredibly moving.  Both of us had tears in our eyes by the end.

Yeah its pretty moving. Everyone is on board with it. People while driving park there cars at 8 to honor the death. I one time when i was little had to speak for 20.000 people at our local memorial statue.

On the contrary normally the 5th of may is one big party. By any change did you go to Haarlem than?

Don't recall which day we went to Haarlem - it was pretty empty.  But I do remember the staggering crowds on 5/5.

I believe you're attempting to troll but I think you might end up being disappointed. ;)

He is.  That's fine, everyone has an axe to grind.

A Swede celebrating the Russians is a little odd.
