Thank you to Lyric1 for finding me the info for this skin.
This old A-24 (de-navalised SBD-5) was rescued from an aircraft boneyard at Morotai airbase by the 5th Bomb Group during 1944. It was stripped of its camouflage paint and employed partly as a proficiency trainer but also as a scout to find Japanese troop positions in the jungle for their bombers to attack.
Judging from one of the photos I have it seems the front guns at least were not stripped from the aircraft so as it was still armed this should be OK as a skin subject.

Amazing Bare Metal. THE BEST in THE GAME!

The best Naval Dive Bomber of WWII without doubt. Great skin!

Cool!

:aok Cant tell if the squadron mascot is on the rudder?
-
I'm not aware of any squadron mascot on the rudder. Other than the airframe numbers the only other thing I can see on it is what looks like a repair patch on the lower LH side.

See PM.

Nice job. And quite unusual.
Is this a 2048 x 2048 skin? The detail is fantastic.
-
Yes, the SBD is a 2048 res skin and the real plane was also fairly small for a bomber at only 41 ft span. So not only are there four times the number of pixels on the bmp compared to a 1024 res skin but there is a lot less surface area per pixel compared to something like a 2048 res Lancaster. The Me-163, Ki-61, F4F-4 and FM-2 are also this finely detailed and some of the 4096 by 2048 res bombers probably come pretty close.
