Title: 31" AOC monitor cleaning
Post by: Max on May 22, 2020, 05:59:07 PM
Have a hi def curved AOC monitor that's about 6 months old and getting a few goobers on it. I've looked at a few You Tube tutorials but thought I'd throw the question out to you guys as to the best way to keep it clean.

Follow the recommendations in the manual. If you don't have the manual you can download it.

Generally you want a lint free cleaning cloth, you may have to dampen one but you don't want water running down the screen.

Have a dry cloth handy as well if you use a damp one.

A fine microfiber cloth is probably the best option, similar to those used for cleaning spectacles. If needed, dampen it as FLS instructed. For dampening, the steam of boiling water often is enough. Or breathing on the screen.

A warm damp microfiber cloth can be helpful in cleaning but steam from boiling water can burn you so be careful with that.

Right on, FLS. I forgot we're talking to a person living in a country where you can sue the kettle manufacturer for not telling that the contents of it can cause injuries after some heating on the stove.

It's not the litigation, I just don't want Max to burn himself.  :aok

Dampen with "distilled" water. Leaves no residue on screen.

Neither do I but I was in the belief he was old enough to know such things  :devil

I have always just use a paper towel with some Windex sprayed on it, and do a gentle wipe.

Seems to work well, and I have never noticed any scratches or problems.

Windex does have abrasives in it and with continuous use WILL dull the screen. Warm water to dampin a cloth has always been the best

Windex ingredients all are liquids, no abrasives in there, at least judging by what they list as ingredients.

Paper towel can be a little abrasive.

But I do this to my monitor only about once every couple of months.

That is why you should spray the window cleaner onto the paper towel to wipe the screen. The towel softens. It keeps over spray from going into any panels too.

That is indeed what I do.  :aok
