Title: What’s the maximum distance troops.....

Great question. Maybe have the “Troops” on the instrument panel red to green when in range?

Sounds like a good wish idea Puma. Now you have to drop one or all and see if they run.

There is a way.

When you spawn in have a timer ready to start, head for the base in the M3, when the base starts flashing, start the timer. At 2 minutes (minimum) you should close enough for the troops to run all the way in. That is assuming you headed straight for the base and did not hit a tree or something to slow you down or stop you. Now at that distance it will take the troops approx. 5 minutes to run in, if you tower out be sure you stay in the tower at least 6 minutes. Remember troops disappear if you re-up to soon. :rock

Unless they are killed right around you when you are killed, they will continue to run as long as you wait in the tower. If you up again in a plane, gv or gun position they wil die when you reup.

I've seen them run from the edge of the road system around the town, cross the bridge and make for the map room.
