I'd like to see a plane that flies off the map to show up as a radar contact.

It does, sort of. There is an arrow that points where the plane is off the map. To make it show up as a dot has the potential to give you a radar map that extends really far outside the borders of the arena.
-
The arrow just gives you a direction to fly to play hide-n-seek.

Personally I'd prefer an orbital laser obliterate people that go off the map after 30 seconds, but I'd be good with this too.

ROTFLMAO
The headhunters and the Muppets used to go off map and have epic dog fights between B-17s or B-26s.

how about massive winds that randomly blow the off map guy all over creation? Maybe give them a couple min warning that there is severe weather incoming???
Orrrrr have an uber set of AI fighters swoop in after a set time and tear the offender up? :D "Radar has detected heavy enemy contact in your area!"
Engine efficiency go's to crap after a short time and off map aircraft start guzzling fuel...
All kinds of fun things to do to encourage folks to stay in the play area. :)

Easiest thing to do would be to adjust all MA maps to have a 100k mountain all around the edge. :old:

Easiest? Hope you are kidding. :D

Should be easier than asking HT to program in space invaders to pop off map players. :D
*Easier for HT. Not impossible for map makers. :old:

I'd imagine the easiest thing would be when they go off map, instead of showing an arrow in the adjacent sector it just boots them to tower. While it would amuse me to see a bright flash of light and see in the buffer that "soandso flew into the death zone and was obliterated." it's not necessary.

Of course, we don't know the details of the program, but we do know that planes show on radar depending where they are -- inside a working radar circle or near a friendly. So, it seems that off-the-map could (easily?) be one more area where airplanes show up on radar.
Or, maybe not. :D

Isnt there an edge like there is in DA?
Should get a warning then pop like a fly hitting a bug zapper

Just kill the engine, until they return to the map. (if they can..)

Auto film and we will have a monster Blooper Reel.

on some maps, you would need to move the proximity of a strat or airfield from the edge of the map.
