Title: P-51D 55thFG/33rdFS Lt Col Elwyn Righetti, "Katydid"

Lt Col Elwyn Righetti was the 55th's group Commanding Officer from late February to mid-April 1945.  Nicknamed "Eager El", he led the RAF Wormingford-based group during the closing months of ETO.  Under his leadership, the 55th became famous for “loco busting” by destroying more than 600 enemy locomotives.  With a reputation as a hell-bent for leather fighter pilot, Righetti quickly achieved ace status and scored more strafing victories, 27, than any other 8th Air Force pilot.

Righetti was shot down and killed on his 30th birthday, 17 April 1945, only four days before the 55th flew its last mission and less than a month before the cessation of ETO hostilities.  He was last seen climbing out of his P-51 Mustang as a crowd of German civilians gathered, and was not heard from again.

Amazing work! Your BMF is the best in game, bar none.

Love the Green and Yellow color scheme, another great contribution to the game.

What color did you use for the green?  Does it have a name?

It may have a name, but its not an ANA-listed color.  There might be something close in the Federal Standard colors, but I just sampled the profile color and started with that.  It gets modified when I turn down the opacity, which is probably between 70-90%.  I usually also tone down the saturation of colors also, but with a color this dark it ends up moving toward black rather than grey.

The rudder and nose are the same shade but the sunlight can make the rudder appear a little lighter.  They are the same shade in the bmp file.
