Title: WIP / Screen Test - Maj. Robert Moore - P-51D "Stinger VII" (67) - 15FG/45FS
Post by: Vraciu on September 21, 2020, 02:54:25 PM: Guys I can't tell how this looks on my awful laptop screen.

(Edit in: It is clear this video card is not up to spec. This poor thing looks awful on my iPad—so pixelated, and the metal is almost white. So let’s focus on the green.)

It is still a work in progress. The OD Anti-Glare Paint is not finalized nor are the markings, but I would like some feedback on how it looks in general. I may have to send it to Devil505 and let him take the screenshots of the final version should these not be any good.

Also, spec maps aside, how does the green look?

The last image still had placeholder nose art, but I caught the metal on the cowling just right...

Mad props to guys like Lazerr who fly with a mouse. My gawd, this has been a nightmare!

I think that's a good term for it.

It sounds like there is no consensus on what it is supposed to be so I went for a derivative of the wheel well/cockpit interior color.

I may be completely off base...

It looks very similar to the shade Oboe used on his 80th FS P-38.

I think the photo has an exposure problem. If I match it then it won’t be right. There’s a color balance issue with it and I don’t know which way to shift it.

Any ideas?

Thanks, man. I'm trying to work on it (from the UK of all places) with a cheap laptop a friend gave me. I will probably have to wait until I get back to the USA to post screenshots of the final product as this video card is not the best.

If you only knew how many times I've ground looped this sucker into a million pieces while trying to shift viewing angles and forgetting to press the H for the mouse to control viewing. Oy. And it doesn't take much movement of the mouse to make this thing go off into the weeds. :rofl

Seems like it needs the yellow level increased. But I'm by no means an expert on color correction.

The second pic looks good to me.

Devil, are shadows and reflections disabled in those shots? I want a mental baseline for what I'm seeing. I darkened the metal 12% over my usual. I may need to back to back that off.

A book i just got has the simplified profile, it doesn't look bad but defiantly not as different as this.

I believe most profiles show a combo of the lot. We probably have it closer to correct on the complex scheme than anyone else, at least for now.
