That's cool, but wouldn't it block the bomber from seeing the target?
Sure it would (which would explain why this wasn't a common tactic in WWII), but perhaps it was anticipated that the bomber could line up and make a successful drop when it penetrated the curtain and it would experience less overall AA with gunners not being able to aim at max range and having a very short time to hit it/them once it breaks through.

Pretty cool. Although I would assume the smoke laying plane would be shot down within seconds which kind of seems obvious when I remember that the smoke is to stop the ship shooting planes down.
