This skin represents a late build Bf 109G-6, which is nearly identical to the G-14, so I skinned this scheme on our G-14. It was flown by JG 51's top scoring pilot, Anton Hafner in October 1944. It was in this plane, on October 17th, that Hafner would score his 204th and final aerial victory when he shot down a Yak-7. Sadly, he would also collide with a tree moments after downing the Yak and die in the ensuing crash.
This scheme features a forward cowl hatch and sections of the fuselage sides over-painted with a light paint of an unknown color. I decided to use a slightly more vivid version of the standard RLM 76 light blue used on the lower fuselage and wings. The areas on the fuselage seem to cover previously applied Gruppenkommandeur chevron markings. As Hafner was only squadron leader(Staffelkapitan) of 10./JG 51, he used a black "1" on his plane. This plane also features several areas of yellow as an IFF measure. Somewhat unusual was solid white vertical bar tactical marking indicating this plane belonged to III Gruppe. JG 51 used solid white regardless of squadron, whereas it was typical for other Geschwaders to paint Gruppe bars in the same color as the squadron numerals.

The camo schemes the Luftwaffe used are what drew me further into WW2 aviation history. Could look at 109's like this all day!

Amazing work, as always!
Thank you for keeping our 109s dressed in sexy history (they tend to get all dirty in battle and a coat of fresh paint brings it back to life).

That and an engine overhaul (but that's not an issue in AH - thank Cod).
