I knew of this movie, just ran upon it w/good english captions. I just could not pin down the 'Me109's in film, not Czech, not Spanish..engine cowl looks Italian-ish?? Anyone know(silly, I know someone does)

If I should have put this in 'aircraft' I am not sure..

They used Spanish 109s (Hispano Aviación HA-1112) for the production of this movie, provided by the Spanish air force (also providing pilots and other equipment).

The Buchons were in fact Merlin engined 109 airframes. The obvious differences are from the firewall forward. The DB engine was an inverted vee. The exhaust stacks were lower on the side of the nose and it has no chin scoop. The Buchons have higher exhaust stacks and the scoop. Not to mention an entirely different nose profile to accommodate the different engine.

There are only a handful of 109s left flying with the original DB engines. Makes a sweet sound.
