How do you tell what planes your mates are flying?
-
You can press control-I to change the icon mode. Control-I once to see what plane your teammate is flying, then keep pressing control-I until you get back to normal mode. Normal mode will show your teammate's call sign, and the enemy plane type.

If I remeber correctly pressing ALT+I changes icon mode

Guano, you ask good questions. I have a couple of suggestions.
This page lists several pages of basic instructions for Aces High. It's a good place to read up:
https://www.hitechcreations.com/support/support-help
This page is a tutorial I wrote when I thought I was going to get a squad of family members and friends. That plan didn't work out, but I think the tutorials are pretty good, so I left them up:

And, of course, keep asking questions here in this forum.
Hope this helps. :salute

Not exactly a Noob. I first flew in Air Warrior some time in the mid to late 90's, and switched to Aces High some time in early 2000, and flew in there for about 10 years or so. But things changed and I quit playing until just recently. I have been in MFS 2020 since it was released and the scenery and flight models are outstanding. However there is no gunfire, no bullets flying, just trundle along from one point to another. I am still using my original CH Fighterstick and Pro throttle, they seem to last forever. What is different now in Aces High is there are fewer participants then before, and the ones in here now have seen to have a lot more experience then when I was last in here, and my marksmanship has gone to hell. Thanks for your response and I will take a look at your videos.
Thanks

I tried CINRL-I and it just gave me some info on the top of the screen, and it never displayed what plane the others were flying. Tried SHFT - I as well and no dice.

Its ALT I
-
ALT-I, can't read. ALT-I works. Sigh.

No, that was my bad. I wrote Control-I when it should have been Alt-I. Sorry. :bhead

It's hard to remember keyboard command after years of just pushing a button for the same result. :aok
