Have you ever noticed that you walk left foot first, you know "Hup Two Three Four"? Or walk to the rhythm of a tune ringing in your head, left foot on the one beat? Or even start walking the stairs with your left, always?
Here's the challenge: Hup on the right, right foot on the first beat etc.! Try it, it's harder than you think! It'll take about two weeks for you to remember to start counting on the right and some three months until it starts to be as easy as the left foot beat.
Here's the carrot: Making the right thing as natural as the left makes your brain grow new neural pathways which will serve as a reserve in case the previously used pathways fail, either because of an injury or a memory disorder like Alzheimer's.

As an ambedextrous individual, I have never had issue either way.
-
I learned as a teenage cadet to march with left foot forward first.
Somehow, in my 20s, I started with my right foot first in bowling approach to the foul line.
I guess that makes me ambidextrous with my feet!!!!!

Cabin fever setting in already?
:lol I like your way of thinking... However, we don't suffer from restrictions here. I can still visit my customers at their homes, shopping is still allowed and most of the public services including libraries are open. Masks are recommended but not mandatory. End of derailing, for now.

Hehe meant more for winter than Covid.

Bah! Winters aren't what they used to be when I moved here back in November, 1986. January '87 was -40 C almost the whole month through, now we've barely reached -10 for overnight. We also used to have some 100 cm of snow at this time, now there's some 20 cm at the most. The street has been cleaned twice so far, or maybe three times?

We have had no snow yet. So far if it doenst change, we will get none this winter which is not right

Mild winter here so far too, but I know at some point we'll pay for it. Average almost 100in(254cm) each year and haven't even reached a foot yet. Although I hope it doesn't I am sure it will right itself at some point. Hopefully just not in April. :)
Ok back to your foot thing. :salute

Never thought/heard about this before. Interesting.
I have tried writing with my non-dominant hand, which does the same basically - engaging the opposite side of your brain.

Me either

Too much army training won't let me do that !!

I put my right shoe on first conscientiously.

I put my right shoe on first conscientiously.
I always put my left boot on first.
-
if i wear tennis shoes, I put my right one on first then sit down and put my left on.
If I wear boots, I sit down put my left on tie the shoe lace then the right one but I don't tie the shoe laces.

 the answers so far have revealed so many other changeable habits that a total brain rejuvenation is possible!

People are left and right footed. You can be right handed and left footed. One way to test unsuspecting people is to push them from behind and see which leg goes forward to catch their balance.
Ever see a left handed piano? You play piano with both hands.
Guitars are played with both hands but there are left handed guitars.
It almost seems arbitrary.

People are left and right footed.
Tru dat. Yet we're taught to march left foot first!
A lefty piano would be interesting! Actually at least one has been built: https://www.classicfm.com/discover-music/instruments/piano/lefthand-piano-christopher-seed/ (https://www.classicfm.com/discover-music/instruments/piano/lefthand-piano-christopher-seed/)
Then again, playing righty musical instruments as a lefty can be an advantage. Ringo's drum fills are hard to copy by other drummers since he's a lefty. Playing a right hand guitar as a lefty should make chord changes easy. Laying down a solid boogie pattern on the keyboard as well...

I always put my left boot on first.
A quarter of the planet conscientiously puts their right shoe on first and takes off the right shoe last, so I joined them in ensuring that I actually think about it every single time I do it. It is a wonderful way of disciplining yourself.

Left handed folks know right is wrong and left is correct. :D

my wife says i have a boot fetish, i have about maybe 50 pairs, most I have never worn. every few months i take them all out and spit shine them takes me about 3 days.
anyways, i cannot balance on my right foot since my back injury. that's why i mostly wear tennis, stand up to put on my right one but i have to sit down for my left one. when i wear boots i sit down and put on my left one and tie the shoe l laces because i can lift my leg up on the sofa, but i can't lift my right leg, so my wife ties the laces in my right foot.
I've given away some of my boots, think 200+ I paid for them. wifey thinks they're not manly. more like metro sexual.

edit: I think it's funny not that i got the boots but more like i have friends that are metro sexual

Me: We will do a left to right cut today.
Crew: ah, military cut!
Me: ?
Crew: you know. left-right, left-right, left-right

In snow boarding, if you go downhill with your natural lead food opposite, it is called riding "goofy".

My boots have no laces. Tony Llama Buckaroos. I keep several pairs and it is about all I wear. Hats... Stetson, Resistol, Serratelli, and my palm hats from Sunbody.
