I was going to subscribe to this game but there is someone over on steam telling people how to download it and play for free from CAF! I guess that means the most popular arenas will be infested with low lifes who are not willing to pay for anything and expect everything for nothing. :o

Not... :devil

There is not a way to play for free. If there was I would pay double.

I believe the "CAF" server is free IF you are a member of CAF. Hitech adapted the game for them to use for their members to "fly" the old warbirds that CAF really owns and flies in real life.I have never tried it so I cant vouch for it but I dont see it being very busy.
Aces High on steam, and at "Hitechcreations.com" Is the main server for the game. You get 2 weeks free of full access once you enter one of the Subscription" arenas where the majority of the players play. Once your 2 weeks is up you are limited to a few under populated arenas.
To play the game with the majority of players you WILL need to subscribe, and only those players that subscribe to Aces High are allowed in those arenas. Tho even a few players who do pay can be "low lives" :D
Join the fun!

Ok thanks but that person on steam was telling people who were asking about subs that they should not bother seeing as they could jump into the busiest arenas for free if they download from the link they provided. I do not appreciate poaching others efforts and I am happy to see that link and posts has been deleted now. At the moment I am really struggling with Cliffs over Dover Desert edition and if it proves too much I will be into Aces High III. In CLoD I seem to be spending hours and hours trying to get my joystick and key bindings to stick and they liked to fly full real. I find that with playing on a laptop it is very difficult to find the various instruments that have to be manually adjusted (because the key bindings do not work) to actually get into the air let alone fly.

Yes Aces High is a "dumbed down" version of a flight sim. While some of "THOSE" players call it dumbed down I look at it as a more simplified sim. I want to fly not mess with bindings, and flipping switches just for the sake of flipping switches. I want to get rolling , find a bad guy, and fight it out and that it what Aces High gives you.
Aces High is also a far deeper game. While I get to fly like I want with out all the button pushes and such, there are options to manually trim your plane out, adjust manifold pressure and things to get that extra out of your plane. On top of that is the game itself, fighter battles ground attacks, sea battles with bombardment with the big guns, bomber missions to strat targets or align with others players to capture territory and win the war.
I did see the post on Steam and it was posted by a guy who was a "top champion" in some other games and came to Aces High to find out he wasn't in the top half skill wize. The game is as deep as you want it to be, but it will never be easy, everyone likes a challenge right? When you make the switch, ask away with your questions. Many are good players and are willing to help.
Hope to see you soon!
