Title: 33 Squadron Hurricane
Post by: Greebo on January 28, 2021, 05:57:37 AM
I thought this skin might be useful for the Operation Marita FSO due to be run next month.

The RAF's 33 Squadron began the war in the Western Desert, fighting the Italian Regia Aeronautica. Initially equipped with Gloster Gladiator biplanes, in October 1940 they received Hawker Hurricanes which allowed them to intercept and bring down the enemy's fast SM 79 bombers. In January 1941 along with 80 Squadron they were sent to Greece to help fight off the Italian invasion of that country. The Greeks were able to drive back the much larger Italian forces from their country. However in April the Germans launched the full force of their Luftwaffe and Panzer Divisions against the country and quickly overwhelmed the Anglo-Greek forces defending it. The RAF's pilots fought bravely but after a few weeks of fighting against overwhelming odds were forced to retreat to Crete and later to Egypt.
