Title: Yugoslav Emils
Post by: Devil 505 on January 30, 2021, 04:36:26 PM
Here are a pair of Bf 109E"S flown by the Royal Yugoslav Air Force in April 1941. Yugoslavia originally purchased more than 70 Bf 109E-3's from Germany in 1940, becoming their most numerous fighter. Germany invaded Yugoslavia in April 1941 as part of it's Balkan campaign, pitting the Yugoslav 109E-3's against German E-4's and E-7's. Despite having success with the 109's, the RYAF could not withstand the combined assault of the German and Italian air forces in superior numbers. Within 2 weeks of combat, the RYAF was reduced to 23 total aircraft, none being 109's.

White L-26 flown by Captain Miho Klavora. On April 7th, he engaged with German 109's, shooting down two before being shot down and killed.
This plane features white side numbers and fully painted rudder in Yugoslav colors. No consensus exists on the green paint used on Yugoslav 109's with sources claiming it to be either RLM 70 Black Green or RLM 71 Olive Green. Photos are also inconclusive. I chose RLM 70 for this skin to maximize the contrast with the markings.

Black L-43 flown by an unknown pilot.

This skin features black side numbers and a small Yugoslav flag painted on the rudder. I chose RLM 71 paint for the camouflage color on this skin.

Also, note that these skins were made with an all new template for the 109E on our existing 3D model. No more cobbling together parts from my older skins and blending them together.

doubt it. nothing exotic about a jpeg.

Some people can see one but not the other (jpg vs. jpeg).

Beautiful skin, and such an unusual scheme for a 109.   Did not know 109s fought against 109s in WWII.  Very interesting.   Probly the only airframe to do so in WWII?

The Soviets and Finns both had Hurricanes at the same time. Not sure they saw combat against each other.
