Title: Controller calibration
Post by: BSTinman on March 12, 2021, 08:05:47 AM
In the process of setting up my Dads (DR7’s) PC to be used by his grandson I think I deleted a desktop shortcut icon that was used to calibrated (or ready) the controller before running the AH game.

When we go into the game the joystick doesn’t work and the controls on the keyboard have changed.

Does anybody know what I may have deleted to cause this or how to get the joystick and keyboard controls to work like they had before?

Thanks,
Brian Tinney

Check to see if your Dad had a copy of the Settings folder on his desktop.  We usually save our settings folder so if something happens we can just exchange the folders.

Also check the Trash Bin, if you've just deleted the shortcut you'll usually find it there. You can then return it to the original location by right clicking.

Thanks but unfortunately I deleted the recycle bin because there were personal files that I got rid of.  Any idea what the shortcut could have pointed to?

If it was just a shortcut, the file is still on the computer....

I have to open game controllers in windows then the thrustmaster throttle window b4 starting AH or otherwise the hotas can act funky

The likely reason you'd run another program before AH is to load drivers for CH products, Thrustmaster etc.

So the question is what controllers are you using?

Also, you can post hardware questions in the hardware forum, I don't usually look for them in the O'Club.

This.

Once you've figured out what brand the controllers are look in programs or the start menu for a corresponding program. CH's would be Control Manager, Thrustmaster is Target, I think. He could also be using a universal type program like joystick gremlin too.

The good news is if you just deleted a shortcut, the program or profile behind it will still be there.

Thanks for the responses all.  This will give me some things to try once I’m in front of the PC again (it’s at my nephews house).  Appreciate the feedback and sorry if this was posted in the wrong thread group.
