Wasn't the plane I wanted to do next but after a bout with Covid in January and side effects still dragging out I went with the last plane I could remember working with. Seen one tri-color you've seen them all is probably how most view them, every time i see one i want to see another.
This one was one of the last remaining F6F-3's in TF-58, VF-17 and VBF-17 had few still operational on Hornet late in the war. While not a direct linage to Blackburn's Corsair squad they did adopt the name with only a few with the Jolly Roger nose art. They were also just as successful with 12 aces in VF-17 and another 8 with the sister squad VBF-17 during the final push in the Pacific. The two VF-17's combined for the most kills by a Naval squad, 313.

Most excellent.
Keep the tri-color schemes coming.
Were there any tri_color Hellcats from VF-17 that did have the squadron insignia?
-
Brilliant, sir. :salute

Tri-Color Hellcats are the best Hellcats.
Are you zoomed in on your screenshots with the Z key?

I believe I use the bracket keys, [ ]. Then arrows to move around a bit. I’m also a bit brain fogged so I need to go back in and see if I do LOL.

Press Z first then he brackets. It will remove the fisheye look.

That is so good I can almost smell the oil and exhaust stains from here. Fine work! I agree, the tri-color skins are the best looking.
Glad you are recovering from Covid.
You must have a GPU that can support great graphic settings. The Hellcat really pops against the sky background.

Thanks, yea I got a new pc last year with a GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, 3 months later the new cards came out lol. I've done graphic design for 20 years but I'm trying to get into a new field where I'm outside. Have had enough of sitting at a desk.

Great looking skin Whiteman. Of the USN schemes the tri-colour one is my favourite too.
The USN (and the Jap and British navies) tended to be a bit boring about nose art and unit markings compared to their land-based equivalents. Its harder to find interesting markings on a naval aircraft, although a little more license was sometimes allowed on escort carriers in the USN and FAA, out of view of the Admiral.

Wow. That is an amazing skin. Excellent detail.

Thank you, Lyric, Greebo and Mister Fork!
