Title: I always take the button of the top of some of my caps.
Post by: hitech on March 17, 2021, 11:24:01 AM
On any cap I fly with  I have always taken the button off the top. Mostly to keep the head set from pushing on it. Yesterday I was glad I did. I was doing a short 15 min flight in the RV to pick up 8000 rounds of 22lr. On the way back as I descended from 2500 to pattern alt of 1600 and turning to the 45 entry leg an elephant jumped on my plane.

I was doing about 165 knots just about at the top of the green arc when my head pounded against the top of the canopy  and I always keep my lap belt fairly tight. My air port 52F is  underneath the final of run ways 13R & L of DFW hence I assume it was  wake turbulence.

This was drastically greater then any bump I have ever hit in a car or plane. I literately looked to see if I still had wings. This morning I still have a slight head ace and a nice bump on the top of my head. I had forgotten to look at my g meter but will have a picture of it later today.

Thought your head was harder than that :)

Glad the wings were still there when you checked

Glad you had a otherwise uneventful flight. Also glad to here you still fly the RV regularly. Take care.

Might want to get that checked out.  You might have a concussion from the impact if your head is still bothering you.

Yikes prices are about as high as gunbroker. Ive been holding out and slowly getting ammo bought and stored away as it comes in at the local sporting goods and farm stores. A limit of 2-3 boxes at a time but its slowly getting stockpiled. Natchez, sigsauer, and federalpremiumhave been getting ammo at very reasonable prices in every now and then, but you have to jump on it the moment it drops or its all gone. Got lucky at walmart and bought 6 boxes of 333 round 22LR for $16 per box right when they opened, and last saturday another walmart just got in a shipment of 22lr, but a limit of 3 boxes. Only was able to get 50 round boxes for $3.47 per box.

I recently got a smoking deal on a Bulgarian AK-74 that came with a tin of Russian 7N6 5.45x39 - I don't think the seller knew that the 7N6 was banned from import during the Obama administration.

One of the better deals I've had since the most recent ammo crisis.

Arms list is different from gun broker in that you need to meet face to face to do purchases. Is the same as the difference of  crags list to eBay. I have had no luck purchasing weapons on arms list, every offer I made I'm sure was a scam. (noted by people wanting you to send money after offer).

So you don't need to pay the price asked. You can offer less. I was looking constantly since my last purchase in November for a reasonable in today's market (8 cents per round or less). I look for large quantities that people are posting with prices for small lots like 500 rounds. Then I offer to by it all for a lower price. But your also limited by area, I can look in a larger area so I keep it in a 1 hour (200 mile) flight range.

To purchase store ammo here you need to start camping out about 5am for 9 am store openings. And are then limited to 2 boxes of what ever size they are selling.

I also just scored a purchase  from gun broker on Sunday.

It's a 1949 (first year they sold 4") versions of the k-22. The guy posting it screwed up in that it did not show in any S&W 22 revolver searches. I only happened to see it do to other stuff from the same seller I was looking at. I'm looking for a model 29 pre lock.
