Ex RAF P-400 operated by 19 GIAP in the winter of 1942-43. Pilot unknown. 19 GIAP was part of the Karelian Front's 7th Air Army and saw combat in the Lake Ladoga area fighting both the Finns and Germans in the Leningrad area.
"White 12" features RAF paint colors of the Day Fighter Scheme (Dark Green/Ocean Grey/Medium Sea Grey) with RAF insignias over-painted with Soviet AMT-7 light blue on the lower wings and AMT-4 olive green on the fuselage and upper wings. Victory stars on the rear fuselage show 5 white stars for the kills claimed by this pilot and 26 red stars for shared victories. The aircraft's number was crudely painted on the tail and shows through to the underlying paint in several places.
This is an adoption of Fencer's original 19 GIAP P-39D. I changed the depicted aircraft from "White 15" to "White 12" based on better available reference for "White 12"

to be fair, about half of this big batch I've made were already in the works, or easily converted from previous projects. I was working on a proper RAF P-400 back in January, so turning it over to this VVS one was fairly simple.

An American-designed aircraft with a British camouflage scheme and Soviet markings. Yet everything about this skin looks so right.
Beautiful work, Devil.

P-39 really is a cool looking plane. I got to see the one that you did of "Snooks 2nd" up close in Buffalo this past fall. Took a bunch of pics for Devil.
