Title: P-39Q "Spare Parts"

P-39Q of the 46th Fighter Squadron, 15th Fighter Group. The 46th was based on Makin Island and Canton Island from late 1943 through mid 1944. "Spare Parts" was literally cobbled together from various wrecks at one of the bases and brought back to fighting shape. The yellow question mark on the tail is placed where the serial number would normally be found. An overall coat of black paint implies it was used as a night fighter.
