This is an adoption from Saxman, in game it looks pure white but should be Gloss Aluminum. Here some info on this strange plane.
F4U-1D Sally, Turtle Bay/Espiritu Santos/New Hebrides, early 1944
This mystery Corsair, was completely the creation of the industrious and resourceful Marines, built by personal from scrap and spare parts by Service Squadron Eleven (SS-11). She carried no guns, arresting hook, catapult hooks or ammunition pans. Painted overall in G Aluminium (FS17178) with black markings. Later in 1944 the machine was camouflage in deep sea blue and was marked with the numbers 894 to represent a fictitious Bureau Number and was thereafter flown on reconnaissance flights.

My thoughts is that it should probably have never got into the game. It's an unarmed aircraft and it's only combat duty it was repainted and an unarmed recon aircraft. Since it's here I thought I'd clean it up and name it for Service Squad Eleven since that's who built it, I can't find any connection to VMF-122.
I've tried to discolor a few panels and access doors to add a bit of variation. This is my first go with anything not painted blue, so any color ideas for Gloss Aluminum is appreciated.

Looks good.
Regarding silver painted aircraft, I would use a uniform paint color for all the metal parts and the only variance would be for fabric surfaces. You want it to look like silver paint and not an attempt at a bare metal finish.

That's what i was trying to stay away from so thanks for that tip.

Nice. I've always liked this one.
Sadly, it was unarmed right? I think that disqualifies it from the game. Is it just grandfathered in?

100% unarmed. I left the gun ports and ammo doors there since I don't think Hitech is going to or even can disable the guns on it lol
That's my guess, trying to find a link to the VMF-122 in game name but don't think there is.

I think at one point it was supposed to be pulled by Skuzzy. If it is OK to be in game you may as well skin it when it was in an all black livery as well.
That aside it looks good. :aok

That crossed my mind as well, I've seen it mentioned as NS Black or Dark Sea Blue. I even looked for a VMF-122 F4U-1A but no luck. The only one I've found is wrongly identified VMF-114 "Blue Baron" after it crashed.
Other option is to just change it to another aircraft now that we can change names, but not sure that's the right thing to do.

I do have a profile in one of my books. It is black in the profile.

Now just to add some confusion I found this image years ago no information with it at all.
This silver one has gun ports and they have been taped over.

Interesting specimen. Looks great! <S>

Its a great looking scheme beautifully done but I agree as an unarmed hack it shouldn't really be in the game.

Think I may replace it with something completely different unless there's objection. Was looking VMF-312 Winnie The Poo-Too, VMF-217 Bayou Baby and VMF-114 Blue Baron. Already have a working adoption update for another VMF-312 and they're unique enough with yellow markings.

I don't think anyone will notice. :noid

Very cool. Very cool.
I would ever so slightly tone down the fuselage frames maybe but that's it.

Getting some weird shadows, maybe because I used to be same film for the gloss aluminum skin but with these new files. Just a guess.

It's not terrible, just a bit more obvious than it should be perhaps.
