Hellfire Corner by Phillips is the crown jewel autographed print in my collection.
Got it from a collector's auction years back.

We have the same tastes in Artists! Outstanding print Eagler! Here is my favorite Wm.S. Phillips Print called "When Prayers are Answered." A damaged B17 with one engine feathered trying to make it home (Betty Boop Pistol Packin' Mama) when it is spotted by two Razorbacks and escorted home. It hangs in my living room above the big screen TV.
One can tell it is an early war version because of the white cowl bands and white stripes on the tails of the Jugs to differentiate them from FW190s.
One can imagine while viewing this print..10 scared young men, who just went through hell Praying they will return home.
When they see the Jugs forming up on them the relief and joy they felt probably was immeasurable.
History and the beauty is why I collect. Both our parents served in WWII. Mother in Navy, Dad in Army North Africa, Sicily then Anzio and marched through Rome on June 5 1944. The day before D-Day. Dad was awarded the Bronze star.
And I agree also that prints do increase in value! Some not all. But the good artists like the Taylor's, Phillips and Trudgeon to name a few do very well.

Update! Being the 56th & P47 Nerd that I am I just had to identify the aircraft and pilots in this print who flew them.
Top P47 Mike Gladych. Pengie nose art. Looks like it may be a D25 or 26. Maybe even an M?
2nd from Top: Gerald Johnson P47 D-1 "In the Mood" Dedication "Jackson County Michigan, fighter." Early War markings.
3rd from top: Walker" Bud" Mahurin. A dedicated aircraft from a city in New Jersey. A D5 in early war markings.
Bottom: Gabby.......nuf said.

In June, 1944, by which time he had scored another eight victories, the Polish Air Force discovered Gladych, Lanowski, and four other Polish pilots had “slipped the bounds” and were flying combat with the Americans. The Polish authorities threatened to expel all of them from the Polish Air Force, and four of the pilots did quit the 56th. Gladych and Lanowski continued and were expelled. Between June and October 1944, neither man was officially in anybody’s armed forces! The Polish government relented in October and restored them to membership in the Air Force. The result of this is that the Polish Air Force does not recognize Gladych’s ten aerial and five ground claims with the 56th FG, though the USAF does. During his time in the 56th, Gladych was unofficially carried as a “Major,” the equivalent of his RAF rank of Squadron Leader. All the P-47s he flew in the 56th were named Pengie, the nickname of his Canadian WAAF girlfriend, which continued to Pengie V as he received newer aircraft. His insignia was the cartoon image of a penguin on the left side of the engine cowling.
