Have to watch this on a BIG screen opposed to tiny cell phone one. :aok

Nice! Not a big Queen fan, and they tend to show up in aeroplane videos often, so it lost me then but still Nice.
Question- when they are low over the water, how fast they going you think?

fan,
Question- when they are low over the water, how fast they going you think?

“Normally” low levels were flown at 480 kts for planning purposes during training.  That didn’t mean a guy couldn’t go “off script” for some reason.  During exercises, when red air was around, it was time to set one’s hair on fire and go for it.  During a Maple Flag at CFB Cold Lake, my star Lt pilot and I, and our WSOs were tasked to air escort a pair of RF-4s on a low level recce mission.  The Recce flight lead asked if we could keep up with them flying at 540 kts during the low level.  I turned to my Lt pilot and asked what he thought.  His fecces eatin’ grin said it all.  My reply, “Yeah, I think we can handle that.”

I recently scanned in lots of photos of my dad's before he went to the annual reunion of Attack Squadron 65 "Tigers"

Seeing this post, I figured I would share them here. Flights Operations of Carrier Air Wing 7 aboard the USS Independence (CV-62) circa 1973.

Top left: F-4J from VF-102 "Diamondbacks" landing
Top Right: A-7E from VA-66 "Waldo Men" landing
Bottom Left: A-6E from VA-65 "Tigers" landing
Bottom Right: F-4J from VF-102 prepares to launch

In the foreground of all pics is an F-4J from VF-33 "Tarsiers"

WOW, That is really a nice picture.
I have a couple OF similar photos (in black and white) I took when  JA37-viggens took off from a 800 yard road base they have scattered all over Sweden, creating its own snowstorm.

I have to buy a good scanner since my photos are old tech from the 80's, but that is something for future-soon retirement work :)
