Title: New 'Re-boot' style
Post by: Groth on October 04, 2021, 09:56:21 PM
 Cheers
I've been able to 'play' on rather dated Asus Tower, off the mother board. When you have an addiction...
Been doing fair, dialed graphics down, than... during a first defrag video froze, after re=start..well, it didn't. No display.
Grief...gnashing of teeth. Many re-boot attempts.
After giving up..out of the crazy side of brain, layed tower on it's side...
AND DANG THING FIRED UP!!
 I can fly again!
 Even works right side up!!

Loose plugs....

Yup, open it up, un-plug and plug everything back in except the CPU (though I have done that when doing a good cleaning and replaced the thermo paste). Make sure there is nothing blocking the fans or cooling fins.

I use to do mine once a year, if you have pets, 4 times a year is better.

To add: Avoid generic thermal paste.  Personally I've used Arctic Silver for my last 3 builds and never have I had a problem.  I've upgraded the parts before thinking about redoing the paste. :aok
