HT, want the name back?
Won't post the link, but you can find it.
...
I hope you will join us all keeping it alive as I try to find a new dedicated owner for WarBirds.
One piece of good news is that have done all the filings to keep our IENT public stock trading. That will make it easier both to find a new owner and raise some funds going forward. Check us out on Yahoo Finance with the symbol, IENT.
...
We could probably pool a couple of hundred between us...
Has anyone seen Archie lately?

The single thing I miss from there is the S3. I see the site's still there and it appears to be going in some form still. Wonder what the numbers are like. Got a feeling it would suffer even more than FSO does from low numbers.
Cruised past their forums, apparently Rivet Simulator never worked out. I am shocked. Shocked I say!
I really can't imagine why someone would buy that game for any significant amount of money. Although the guys that think they have the perfect recipe for a Melee arena could prove it out if they could get together a couple hundred bucks and some pocket lint and make millions, right?
Wiley.

I was never able to experience Warbirds days and thus was never part of the wave of people that came over to Aces High. This was due to the fact that I was only around 12 or 13 when I first tried out Aces High based off the interest of my Grampa (SonnyTen) and father (IRNstorm). I've heard plenty of people mention the days of Warbirds flying though.

WarBirds was dead as soon as it moved past 2.77.

The new guy that has been posting recently, "decoy" came from WB

I wouldn't give him much....I'd give him 10 grand for the whole thing assuming no debt liability. Every line of code server and client, all models, art, everything. There is not much left of value.
* They have almost no client base left. I think 20 players is a big night for them. So that means little or no revenue depending on how many suckers they can get to buy the free client off Steam a month. (To be fair I think they give them first month free, so I guess they are just selling a month and the client is really still free.)
* The art is nothing to write home about. It's 2004 quality.
* Apparently they have some core problems with their physics.
* Apparently they have some serious problems with their client security.
* You not buying any talent. They have one part-time (volunteer?) coder that seems to be having problems.
The only asset I see that has any real value is the goodwill and provenance behind the name Warbirds. Scrap the rest. A lot more IL2, WarThunder, DCS guys have heard of Warbirds than Aces High. I don't mean to be rude, but Warbirds is just a better name.
It would probably be worth that to HT, IMHO (perhaps not in HT's ). If it were me, I would rebrand AH to Warbirds; dump the chessboard thing and go A, B, C country, keep all his current code (it's working and stable so you are hitting the ground already able to run day 1 and not having to fix Heater's junk).
Would that make the current product and subscription model more appealing to the modern market? Nope.
What it might do is generate a good bit of press and word of mouth buzz; like Steve Jobs returning to Apple. That's a compelling story for the gaming press. That's a LOT of free advertising.
You might also excite a bunch of old players at the idea of returning to "Warbirds" for one last tango with HT before their final dirt-nap. Might get enough to ignite some critical mass and get it self-sustaining. HT and all the players of old might like to finish the dance under the game title they started with.
$0.02.

I knew things weren't looking good when that shill missed a week of spamming our O' club with WB propaganda.
-
I'd kick in a grand just for the code and rights to the Dawn of Aces client/server. It would be fun to play with. I'm sure HT has no interest in that.

I'd love to get my hands on the assets and materials for Raider Wars!

I hope it doesn't effect MicroProse.

Yeah, Fugitive is right, I came from WBs. Someone else in this thread said that it had gone downhill since ver 2.77 and they were right.
The numbers there? Mornings, maybe three players, in the afternoon, maybe five or six. At night, maybe 18-20. I stop in every night to make a pitch for Aces High. People have left there for IL*2 and Aces High, I know, because one of my better 'friends' in WBs is the one who told me about it.
The atmosphere there is very toxic. There are only two teams, either red or green, or for some arena purple and gold. It boils down to the greens, who are, imho, jerks, who cheat unashamedly. There's a glitch in over half of the arenas were if a green and red collide, the green flies away and the red dies. Ergo, head on collisions sometimes can't be avoided. There's one player who entire skillset consists of flying a 190 into the tail section of a bomber.
Also, the greens don't like rookies and they don't like to answer questions. It took me two months to realized I needed to fly for the reds. Those days are gone. I don't miss them, I don't miss the platform.
I suppose some changes could be made to revive that game, but it's dead. It just doesn't have enough sense to lie down and be still.
Understand, I carried the same attitude there that I brought to AH. I'm a positive, upbeat person, but as soon as met this bunch, I knew it was time to walk away from WBs.

Was meaning to ask as I saw you around, were you into S3? If so what's it like these days? Just curious.

Never did S3,the squad select series. Allegedly they had a big performance, but I wasn't in a squad in my last WB incarnation, and apparently it helps to be in one.

i flew in S3s back in the days. late 90s early 2000s. They were an absolute blast. FSOs were meants to be a S3 transpant but it never worked out that way.
As to S3 fun factor, let me just say that after i moved to europe i would get up at 3am on sun-mon night to fly S3, go back to sleep and get up for work at 7am :)
Best sim experience ever.

I was with JG2 in the S3's. It was an intense event. It ended up for me when it took a day to get over getting shot down.
Good times but too intense for me. I became a furballer :)

Isn’t Warbirds about the only flight sim with a MacOS client? IIRC, it supported both Windows and Mac, when Hitech left and started AH he went Windows only.

I remember the day it was announced. Gman and I were shocked when it came out. We were the first beta testers for Aces High.
That was almost a couple decades ago. Time flies when...
