Hello Aces high community, i am new to this game, and i do have a question that is probably the dumbest of them all, what is the default key to type to the chat in the game please?
-
Hello, the default key to type on country is /.
When you press the forward slash key the text window will open up, and you will see that there are four options for text and one for vox. You can set the text channels to what you want using the drop down menu in each channel box.
If you would like I can meet up with you in the Training Arena and I can answer your questions in person.

Welcome. I don't think you can out-rookie me, but there are no dumb questions. I've found out there are answers to questions that even I was too ignorant to ask. Be sure to check the 'help and training' forum, too. It's been a big help to me.

I remember when I started, I was so eager to fly I was using (to get to the radio) esc key, clicking radio on the clipboard, then clicking a channel, I also didn't know about the check 6 key shortcut, so calling out a bad guy who was lining up a friendly was a panicked flurry of movements!
Luckily Ghosth and Ozark were very helpful in my first few weeks and helped me out with it.
As SIK says, / will bring up the radio, and you'll be on country (green) channel, depending on what you have your other radios tuned to, shift / will get you the second channel, ctrl / the third and alt / the 4th (I think, I might have the order wrong, it's muscle-memory for me now) :)
Welcome aboard!
Salute

There is this page on the Aces High web:
https://www.hitechcreations.com/the-game-interface/using-the-radio
And this one that I wrote:
http://www.kentwoodstation.com/NewPilots/TextAndRadio.html
Between these two, you should get a good idea of how the text "radio" works. Hope this helps.

welcome to the game sir!!! :aok

If you go to this page:
http://trainers.hitechcreations.com/images/trainers/downloads/quickref.pdf
It is a quick Reference for the game..

When in doubt, in game go to clip board - Options - Controls - Key Board. You can look over mapped key functions. Welcome aboard, and I dare you to shoot me down...

No silly questions..the game doesn't come with an instruction manual and it does take a bit to figure out..
I know basically nothing about bombers and gv's after 20 years playing :)

Jeez I guess the question wasn't so bad 😄20 years is some steady experience if I say so myself , I received a pm in the forum's yesterday regarding some training and I'd like to say thank you for the offer and I may take that up sometime, the only problem I had is to reply i had to type a verification question on what state hi-tech was formed in and being on the cold side of the Atlantic,I had no idea!😄where was aces high formed please?
-
The answer should be Texas.
Hitech and a small crew broke away from Warbirds in 1999?, when iEN bought the company and wanted to move all production to North Carolina. Hitech, Pyro, Waffle?, Superfly, NateDog?, Ronnie, and I forget who else - they all left the company and formed Hitech Creations, which produced Aces High in around 2000.
(If memory serves, I think this version is pretty close)
IIRC correctly Warbirds was originally produced by iMagic? And it was an outgrowth of some film camera code Hitech had created to run with a different air combat sim (the name escapes me) - but it had 3 countries, A, B, and C.
Warbirds had four countries - Red, Green, Gold, and Purple. And it had a rolling plane set, where at the start of each tour, only the early War aircraft were available. I think it took two weeks to get to the late-War aircraft?

??? A verification question to answer a PM .... Is this new?
seems a little over the top if you ask me... I can understand if it was a guest randomly PMing someone.... but a reply to a PM ???

I was wondering about that too. Since I was the one that sent the PM about training. I've never heard of a verification question to answer a PM.
Adam the offer of training still stands, the biggest hurdle is finding a time that works for us both. I'm West Coast U.S. (GMT -8). My schedule is fairly flexible as long as I have enough forewarning. Let me know what times would work for you and we can figure something out.

Hi Adam!
I do see you flying for the bishops nights that I am on. My VOX (voice) is currently out, but come to bishops channel 177 and if you have a question, ask there. No one will taunt you, or laugh at you there. We were all "new" once. :) :airplane:
Best Regards

Yeah, twenty years ago, WBs had a thirty day rolling plane set. Each day represented a month during WWII, and the aircraft available to players were those that came available as each 'month' passed. Field capture was tough and arena capture was unheard of. I used to love flying a zeke and one of my squaddies suggested that I spend an entire tour flying off of 'our' cv. I got really good at carrier landings, in zekes, the wildcats, and tbfs.

Outstanding. I didn't know that. HiTech had told me he was in on WBs from the beginning, but this explains a lot. Thanks Fugitive.
