Title: F6F-3 VF-8 Ace George Kirk

One of our squadmates, South52, brother has a project where he's traveling around the country and photographing WWII Veterans. In early November he was lucky enough to meet 100 year old George Kirk, a Hellcat Ace with 8 victories aboard the USS Bunkerhill. Out of curiosity I looked him up and was able to find an autograph display with his info and a picture of him in a hellcat. As they didn't have assigned aircraft i went with 41 that was in the display.

Awesome!

Two of my great uncles helped build the Bunker Hill. One of them later served on her and was there when she was hit by two Kamikazes during the invasion of Okinawa.

Great-looking Hellcat.   I had a friend whose father was also on the Bunker Hill during that kamikaze attack.
