Title: P-51D Update: 78thFG 84thFS Col John D. Landers, "Big Beautiful Doll"

This is an update to the last of Fester's original 3 magnificent AH II P-51D skins.  Was a goal of mine to have this one done by the end of the year.  I strive to preserve as much of the original artwork as possible; this one required quite a bit of tweaking to get the whites manageable while trying not to impact the other color levels too much.  All new Spec, Power, Environment, and Normal maps.

Would it be in keeping with the spirit of your intent to take some of the purple out of the national insignia?  I don't think Fester would object.

I'll desaturate it some before I submit it - thanks for mentioning.   I've also added a slight bluish tint to the bare metal - I think with adjusted specularity and power values, a slight bluish cast gives the bare metal a little more pop.

I also substituted my pilot figure and tire tread textures.

I think your metal pops just right as it is.   JMHO.

Just wandered by and saw this.

I approve!

This was my favorite P-51d skin as well Greebo.

Desaturating the stars as Vraciu suggests sounds like a good call too.

Thanks - I figured adding a caption to the image on the skin download page was a small way to keep your name associated with the skin.

Best news is I have seen both this skin and your 361st "LOU IV" in use in the MA recently.   Great, lasting contributions to the game there, Fester!

That insignia is too purple now though.  Adjust it and it'll be pretty close to flawless.

IIRC I did adjust (desaturate) it on the skin, but didn't retake the photo.

Checker nose,  is not easy to make.
