Due to falling squad FSO participation and plummeting player numbers (WWI end of year party was very disappointing), I have closed my account with HiTech after 21 years.

Jaeger, I really want to thank you for your excellent efforts in hosting MNM.  I would not have stayed through 2021 if I wasn't having so much fun flying against you all.

The players in MNM are a great bunch and display the old school values of good gamesmanship and sense of humor.

It is not all sad though.  I have been flying WWII and jets in another combat simulator both single and multiplayer.  That sim has got me cracking open my copy of Shaw's "Fighter Combat", watching YouTube tutorials, and reading aircraft manuals/novels.  I haven't felt this enthused about PC flight sims since the AH golden era of 600+ arenas.

I wish you guy all the best and thank you for the memories!  :salute

It's bad when good people move out of your life, but I always wish them the best, because you never know what they're moving into an whether or not it's better for them.  When I left WBs for AH, I was ridiculed, but it's been a good thing.  Look at all the people I've met who've killed me to death on multiple occasions.  Eagler, you're one of them, btw.

So, <Salute> to Tshark.  I think he's got me a time or two, too.

So do I.  But he'll return.  He will not be able to resist running up a score of Oldman pelts.

See you later, TShark.

Hey you!  Get back in here (after a couple weeks)!  So sad to see such a worthy red adversary move away.  After all, who’s gonna hold my dance card on Monday nights?!

The very best to you and your future endeavors,  and Check Six!

I find IL2 more doable than DCS

Both are very pretty though game play is not as satisfying IMO as the action online is just not there and without icons can't see much of anything until tracers come from my 6

Maybe I'll see you there

A shame to see you go. While I did notice the lower numbers for the WWI event, I sort of attribute that to it being a Saturday eve rather than Friday. I assume typically more guys get permission to fly on the typical Friday night rather than Saturdays. :)

Check out the 16AGR squad, they have real life RAF pilots for training and a live server up and running. If you need a invite to the discord shoot me a PM.

I have been flying with Splatt (old squadmate), Tempest, Windy, and Percy on a semi-regular basis.  Great group!

That's awesome. Splatt just had surgery if memory serves correct. Windy is a great trainer within the group.

Jets?

Never had an interest in them..once you lose the prop you lose me...except for the occasional 262 :)

Funny, I had the exact same feeling and it has been the major reason I waited so long to try DCS.  Then after enjoying some of the WWII aircraft in that sim, I decided to try jets.  I was surprised how much I actually liked them.  The addition of missiles and faster speeds requires different dogfighting tactics than WWII (hence running back to Shaw's "Fighter Combat").  Jet BFM requires more "future thinking" than WWII, so I found it more cerebral and less reflex.

All that does not take away from WWII aircraft.  I still enjoy single mission, campaign, and multiplayer in WWII.

It is nice that when I want to play I don't have to account for player side imbalance and I have great single player content always available.

In any case, I do not want this thread to devolve into AH bashing or promoting another sim.  If anyone has questions regarding DCS, please PM me and I will be happy to share my thoughts and experiences.  :salute

In Air Warrior jets wer e  available if memory proves right and in their own arena.I recall an F86 saber and possibly a Mig same era. They were fun to fly but I wasnt able to change my kill/death score any more that I do now.
I also found some paperwork here for me from Air Warrior back in 1996. Ive been doing this foolishness for a long time

Maintain 350MPH in the turns for better dogfighting, lol

Dear Tshark, as i struggle to keep things interesting for the player community, nothing saddens me more then seeing someone ive grown to consider a friend leave the game. while the number are low i have always hoped that my events, and some of the others would keep people interested. that being said, im very sorry to see you leave.
i hope you enjoy your new endeavor and know that you are always welcome to come back and join the Monday Night Madness family when you have an urge.
you will be sorely missed but i wish you well and hope you enjoy what you're doing. God bless
