Despite wearing a mask pretty much everywhere and receiving the vaccine and a booster, I tested positive today. My symptoms so far: sneezing, coughing, headache, slight fever, annoyance!
I am fat and old with high blood pressure, but I have an unbelievable will to live.
Wish me luck!

Hope for a speedy recovery and no worse symptoms Zapkin!

Good luck! Sounds like you aren't super bad, which is good. My buddy and me both got really sick a few weeks ago. We both live in North Florida. He took the vaccine and is in the military. I did not. He got just as sick as me, if not more sick, and had to go to the hospital. I did not go to hospital, though maybe I should have. Too bad we don't have pediatrician type places like we did when we were kids. Going to the main hospital sucks. Anyway, it was definitely the craziest sickness I've had. My blood sugar was way off, I was becoming dizzy and light headed in the morning unless until I ate something. I slept all day for 4 days and had bad bed sweats. One of the worst sore throats ever, luckily only lasted a few nights. The extra strength Cepacol helped my throat a lot. For the next week after, my head felt so weird and congested. It was not a normal cold. Luckily I had some Sudafed and mucinex to get past the super thick muccas I was blowing out along with mind congestion. Thickest I've ever had. It was not like the colds I've had the past couple of years during covid. Unfortunately I did not have access to Ivermectin or HCQ, and that kind of sucked as I wanted to try it. All during my business month end close which super sucked. I hear quercetin, zinc, and Vitamin D, C are the way to go. From what I hear, it's the quercetin that allows the zinc to enter the cell. That's why it's so important. I couldn't find that at the store either, ugh. Hope you get better man. It does really suck.

I don't see where reporting on your health and asking for good wishes is whining. Besides, it's the O Club. So, I hope you feel better. If it'll make you feel better, hunt me down in the main arena sometime and kill me. It seems to perk other people up.

Robbler, I heard no whining. I am sure you have all our best wishes.
"Breakthrough" infections were rampant in my area despite a 90%+ fully vaccinated population, but hospitalizations among them were extremely rare. May you be as fortunate.

Sounds about the same as most folks that get it. You'll be ok. Plenty of water, vitamin C, and zinc. Fever will be for one day most likely. Then you'll be bored a few days. :aok

I don’t see any whining either, with a positive test of this erratic virus I’d imagine most people would be anxious and scared to varying degrees.
I don’t believe there is a way to delete a post/thread. Also I don’t think Skuzzy or HT ever did that either. They would/will lock a thread or remove a post in it with notification of a rules violation.
Wishing you a speedy recovery! :salute

I hope you get well soon. To be absolutely sure you have covid get tested again and make sure it is not the PCR test.
The CDC gave notice Dec 31th that this test cannot distinguish
between influenza and covid 19. Use another FDA-authorized COVID-19 test.
Contact your physician right away. There are many treatments available now that can help prevent hospitalization. Early treatment is the key.

it's kind of funny sometimes, in a dark sense of humor. my wife got covid before vaccine, she spent 8 days in icu, it affected her brain. I got no symptoms whatsoever. we got it again a few weeks ago, my wife other than a running nose, once in a while had no symptoms. my left arm was hurting really bad for a few days, then my right arm, which was weird, I dont do anything to cause that. then I had a headache, i dont get headaches, then we did a rapid test at home we both tested positive, went to a testing site we both tested positive. in a few days it all went away. we both triple vaxx.
hope everything goes away in a few days. I was more like annoyed than anything else. it's like the lottery, i haven got a scratch ticker in years, saturday I decided to get 1, got 500 bucks on a 2 dollar ticket. oh yeah that helped me pay my ah subscription, that damn thing comes every month.

Get well soon. I had it about a month ago, roughly a week of feeling bad but the worst part was not being able to taste anything for a week after that. As a man who enjoys my coffee every day that was the worst for me.

Not sure how anyone could call this whining, while personal health issues are just that, personal, I don't see how your sharing it and wishing for support is contrary to Board standards.
-
I have never worn a mask and still have not had it. When my wife got it right before Christmas, I took her to be tested... she had fever. She sat with her head on my shoulder and holding my arm. We just figured I would have it too. She tested positive and me negative. I never got it.
When we were in the waiting room I did have a bandana on. I had worn it a few times in the past when, for a short time, some stores required you to wear a mask while inside.

well i thought i was on the mend. less coughing. today it started hurting when I cough. I lay down for bed tonight and each time I go to drift off I gasp for air. so I am up. decided i'd make something super spicy to open up my head/chest. made noodles and drenched them in frank's red hot. i am sweating from the heat but I cannot really taste it. threw it out. this sucks. as a fat dude, I need to be able to taste my food! what is the point of being obese if you cannot even enjoy it? gonna try to lay back down. i am surrounded by apathetic people in my circle of friends. you find your real friends when you get sick. take care guys. this stupid thing is no joke.

each time I go to drift off I gasp for air.
Yikes. If it were me and that were going on, I'd want to know right away if my blood oxygen is less than 94% or so on a pulse oximeter.
Folks can get pulse oximeters, like this one:
https://www.amazon.com/Santamedical-Oximeter-Fingertip-Saturation-Batteries/dp/B08HH86RT2/ref=sr_1_8?crid=3L21PR88GDE2P&keywords=pulse+oximeter&qid=1645072872&sprefix=pulse+oximete%2Caps%2C108&sr=8-8
But if one isn't handy, urgent-care places have them (and of course emergency rooms at hospitals).
Disclaimer: I am not a physician, and folks should not take my writing as medical advice.

Truly, it is not a joke or a “cold” or “flu”.
It’s real name is SARS-Cov2. SARS is Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (caused by a Corona virus in).
The waking up gasping for air makes me think of sleep apnea. Being overweight is one of the biggest known causes/contributors to sleep apnea. There’s also more than type…
You mention being “obese”, which begs the question do you have sleep apnea and this has exacerbated it?
If you don’t know, do you snore? Often they go hand in hand…
I’m not overweight, but I do snore and I’ve woken up gasping for my breath, freakin scary stuff! Because of this I always try to sleep on my side. I noticed it seems like every time I’ve woken up gasping for air I was sleeping on my back.
Maybe you have sleep apnea or maybe not and Covid has caused you to stop breathing (briefly) while asleep. IDK, but jolting awake and gasping for air is the brain’s reaction to cause resuming your breathing.
I hope you find a way to get good sleep and rest as it goes without saying you need it to get over this.

I've lost around 50 lbs the last couple of years.
I don't consider myself very overweight now (still would like to lose another 10lbs to get back to my 25yo weight), but I do wake myself up occasionally from apnea.
When I'm clean shaven, I will use these (I use a different brand but they are all the same):
https://www.amazon.com/Advanced-Breathing-Improved-Nighttime-Sleeping/dp/B07X27FV15/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=1AT7HKEE6HO6P&keywords=mouth+tape&qid=1645127673&sprefix=mouth+tape%2Caps%2C105&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&smid=A3NQ5CNN94H3H4&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExUkVFN0lFT1Q3Q0lMJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMjIxOTI5Qk5GWjhRNktEVU1YJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTAwNDUzMzBSTDNVR09UUEhHUE0md2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGYmYWN0aW9uPWNsaWNrUmVkaXJlY3QmZG9Ob3RMb2dDbGljaz10cnVl (https://www.amazon.com/Advanced-Breathing-Improved-Nighttime-Sleeping/dp/B07X27FV15/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=1AT7HKEE6HO6P&keywords=mouth+tape&qid=1645127673&sprefix=mouth+tape%2Caps%2C105&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&smid=A3NQ5CNN94H3H4&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExUkVFN0lFT1Q3Q0lMJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMjIxOTI5Qk5GWjhRNktEVU1YJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTAwNDUzMzBSTDNVR09UUEhHUE0md2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGYmYWN0aW9uPWNsaWNrUmVkaXJlY3QmZG9Ob3RMb2dDbGljaz10cnVl)
They look retarded but actually work really well. When I end up on my back, my mouth can fall open and jaw drop and that is what causes it for me. These prevent that. They are not as uncomfortable as they look, but I rotate mine 90 deg.
Learned about them from this book:
https://www.amazon.com/Breath-New-Science-Lost-Art-ebook/dp/B0818ZZNLR/ref=sr_1_2?crid=1ZY2R0ZNGLM4Z&keywords=breath+book&qid=1645127989&sprefix=breath+book%2Caps%2C172&sr=8-2 (https://www.amazon.com/Breath-New-Science-Lost-Art-ebook/dp/B0818ZZNLR/ref=sr_1_2?crid=1ZY2R0ZNGLM4Z&keywords=breath+book&qid=1645127989&sprefix=breath+book%2Caps%2C172&sr=8-2)
Of course not recommended when you are nasally congested. ;)
-
The breathing is a concern. IF you are not taking full breaths, you could get pneumonia. That is what puts folks with the flu or covid into the hospital.

Had a Doctor friend die from covid last week.
When people discuss "breakthrough infections", a lot of variables are not being considered.
Vaccines don't prevent every single covid cell from infecting a person. They aren't designed for that.
They hip your immune system to the presence of the virus (by tricking it) which causes it to create antibodies that had never existed before within said body.
The size of the initial infecting dose of victims plays a huge role on how sick they get and it's possible for a massive initial dose to initially overwhelm the body even as the immune system is slowly whittling down virus numbers. Reminds me of what goes on in the body when one get's drunk.
Do you think we would be OK versus a massive dose of polio virus? Would we take nerve damage before our immune system rids the body of the virus?
Would they call it a "breakthrough infection"?

Just today I read about New Year's promises and how they often seem to be forgotten in a month or two. But as the article said, even a short period is better than no improvement in your habits at all.
The article also said that it takes about nine (9) months for a new healthy habit to stick to the point where not doing it makes you feel worse than doing it!
For the record I feel guilty and don't really wake up if I skip my morning excercise. Every morning except Sundays ("He rested on the seventh day...") I do a routine of about 15 minutes with the window open to ventilate the bedroom. Sit-ups, push-ups, pull-ups, squats, bows... On the mornings I'm going to take a shower I do more repeats in a fast tempo to really sweat. The rest of the days I do it to the tempo of Yoga breathing: Inhale through the nose for 3 seconds, outhale for 7 seconds while keeping the strained position. That'll make six repeats in a minute, two minutes for each posture is plenty enough. Compared to going to a gym my way has plenty of advantages: First, you don't have to go anywhere so you'll save the traveling time. Second, you don't have to worry about fashion, you can do it all in Adam's suit. Third, no fossil fuel is used which saves both your money and the environment. Fourth, you don't have to worry about what other people think about you as you're alone. Fifth, as you're training by yourself you don't have to explain anybody why you weren't there yesterday (having a hangover after a Scotch tasting night...) Etc.
-
Isometric exercises are making the news like they are brand new..
Held tension of any kind will increase strength and counts as resistance training..better than nothing.
They are now saying holding a full flex for as little as 3 seconds provides benefits ... sounds like a wishful exaggeration to me..
If covid should show us anything it is how unhealthy we all are and how fragile the human body is when it's not at optimum health
They should have issued discounts on treadmills and gym membership instead of stimulus checks...it would have had a longer healthier impact

Dude I got a double dose of it because I worked retail for a while. One thing you're going to find up is it's going to take months to get your strength back. My last bout was about 3 months ago. Well, there's some truth to it. Bathing in the sauna on Saturdays used to be the norm during winters especially on the countryside, a can of water and a vat beside the bed for washing your eyes in the morning. There often was a large cauldron in the cattle shed as well where you could wipe yourself with warm water after all the milk bails and churns had been washed. In the summertime swimming was one way to take care of personal hygiene in the "Land of a thousand Lakes" - actually over 180000 of them. - There's a favourite song about lumberjacks who turn their shirts inside out on Saturdays when they go to a dance.
I guess it was pretty similar all over the world until the mid 1900's. City people had had showers and plumbing already in Ancient Greece and Ancient Romans continued the tradition but I bet the farmer living a day's walk from the town didn't use such luxuries too often.
Funny that although shower is actually a British invention it's the Americans who have taken taking a shower to another level. Then again, I haven't heard about landslides caused by collapsing groundwater cavities in Europe.
Finally, to show that Americans may also have their blind spots in hygiene: There was this middle-aged couple in an old fancy hotel in Paris, France. The hotel maid showed them all around the suite and the lady was all aah's and ooh's. Finally they came to the bathroom with all luxuries including a bidet bowl. And the lady asks 'Ooh such a pretty tiny tub! Is that for washing babies in?' -'Non, Madame, it is forr washing les bébés out!'

Oh it a post WWII thing in US probably.
I visited the remains of my ancestors old family farm house that is partially still standing. Pre-1900 a lot of poor farmers didn't have wells. Water was deep in the dry Texas plains. Rainwater catchment was the primary source. There was still an brick cistern next to the house, but it couldn't have been more than 300 gal. I doubt they were taking two hot showers a day.
My mom told me stories of visiting them when she as a young girl and there was a tin stall outside and their grampa would fill a bucket with water and it has nail holes on the bottom. They each got a bucket's worth for their shower and it was ice cold.
My great aunt was telling me stories about when she was a little girl she visited some cousins who lived in the big city and not on a farm. Big city was probably pop 5000 I bet. They had an INDOOR upstairs bathroom with a tub. She was terrified to pull the plug on the tub after her bath assuming the water just drained out in to the living room downstairs. ;)
Amazing how much things can change in two generations.

You may have heard about Jean Sibelius, the composer (1865-1957). In his last home (since 1905) he had a sauna building in the backyard and in the sauna there was a bathtub. Above the tub there was a similarly holed bucket hanging from a pulley in the ceiling. This one was factory made, though, named "Sauna-Joy" (Sauna-Ilo). While the great composer was taking a bath it was Mrs. Sibelius' task to take care of sufficient water supplies. As she had designed the entire sauna building she also had added an ingenious chute from the well situated right behind the sauna on top of the wood heated cauldron. That way Mr. Sibelius could take his bath and shower without being disturbed by the wife running back and forth.
