It is common knowledge that Will Smith and his wife Jada have practiced an open marriage. It is OK for you to have sex with her if she wants. The husband doesn't mind. But if you mention she is bald that deserves a punch in the face! I can't help but wonder what the boundaries are here if you say her Wahoo stinks is that a punishable offense? :cheers:

If the condition is life threatening I would understand but it isn't AND Smith was laughing at the Joke until Jada rolled her eyes... watch the replay I really do not care about the oscars and have never watched them... in my opinion, they are only an excuse for actors to pat themselves on the back :bhead :salute

The 1st amendment doesn't limit Poor taste, or a Bad sense of humor. Although Chris Rock may have hurt somebody feelings, he never physically touched anybody. And I do not think it is the same thing as mocking somebody with an obvious disability, or a child. I agree that these were adults, that seek the public limelight and IMHO as with politicians they are fair game. After all its an award show, that says "look at me look at me".

The action of the person doing the mocking says more about them, than the person afflicted by the disability. Some people lack decency and others lack tolerance.

I watched the video clip of the situation. Reall.y, you can't be on the damned internet and miss it. I really DNGAF about the actors or any show about patting themselves on the back AFAIAC the only award they need is the sale of movie tickets for their work.
I did notice that smith was laughing pretty good at the joke about gi jane ... until he looked over and saw his "wife" was pissed. THEN he got upset. Real or not I don't care. I just wish the damn thing would go away

The ratings were the second lowest in history from what I've heard.
Sorta strange how hardly anyone cares about the Oscar's anymore, yet Hollweridos continue to push their "woke" ideology like 80% of the population loves it. If so many people loved what Hollywood was doing, wouldn't they be getting all time record watchers?
Disney is now about to start pushing LGBTQ propaganda hard on in their children's movies (yes it's happening already though), but this just came out when their "all hands" meeting was leaked, how hard they are actually going to push it. When their sales drastically suffer because of it. What excuses are they going to make?
People don't like them and their garbage woke propaganda being pushed in movies. You can clearly see it with Hollywood's Oscar's ratings. The amount of research being done into Hollywood has also grown exponentially and that has turned off a lot of people.
It's unfortunate, but these people have been taken over by aliens to destroy the movie business and turn our kids gay and it shows (just kidding ;) )

A rather predictable yet still over the top reaction (by a man use to almost a lifetime of no real consequences for his actions because of his popularity and fame) to a slight about a wife that has previously and publicly humiliated him by admitting during an interview to having an affair because she felt he didn't love her enough (so of course he had to react in a big way when he saw his wife was pissed about it in order to prove to her he actually does love her); and, of course, the audience just rolled with all of it because it was one of their own "elite of the untouchable elite" committing battery against a lesser ranked elite. So shrug it off but make sure to be seen giving a standing ovation to the perpetrator 20 minutes later when he is awarded for being the most accomplished faker of the past year or else it will be you and your career that is thrown under the bus next.
The subtext of the whole thing does a good job of illustrating why most people don't pay much (if any) attention to the shenanigans of the holywood elite anymore.

When you CHOOSE to be a celebrity you choose to give up a certain amount of privacy. When you CHOOSE to get dressed up and go to an awards show knowing full well that the host will be roasting the attendees, you smile and giggle at the joke like everyone else.

As an aside, insult humor—and no one was better than the legendary Don Rickles—is one of the finest traditions of American comedy, and having a sense of humor about oneself is one of the defining attributes of American Celebrity. Smith’s violent outburst is, in a word, psychotic.

Careful, Ramesis...........I mentioned something similar in the arena and was told I needed a strap for my tinfoil hat.
Will Smith has been in enough action roles, do you think he doesn't know how to throw a fake punch/slap? Same with Rock, he's done enough roles to know how to act out his part of being slapped.
Their nonverbal stuff is what has made me question it all.
In the end, beyond a comment during conversations like this, I couldn't care less if it was real or not. Celebrities crave attention, so this is what they want, to create a stir.

I actually don't think it was fake because of the cussing, funny enough. It definitely won't go over well for the older generation and that's like their last market standing. Interesting to note that Pfizer (of course) was one of their largest sponsors, who also so happens to have a brand new drug for Alopecia coming out. Just the way Will Smith was laughing in the beginning until he saw his wife, then he felt he had to do something in her honor for hurting her feelings.
Of course Chris Rock ain't gonna press charges. That's against the gangster code lol.

Chappelle: No, because Chappelle would have probably hit him back and then spent the entirety of the remainder of his set doing nothing but bagging on both Will and Jadda to an "over the top" degree
Eddie Murphy or Snoop Dogg: No, they are probably roughly on the same level of "untouchable elite" as the smiths and she would have known that the PR backlash wouldn't be worth it. So she would have just politely clapped along while wearing a fake smile and then probably rip into her husband on the drive home later that night for not standing up for her.
My take: The slap happened because his caustic wife was upset about being publicly bagged on by a person that she feels is beneath her and therefore shouldn't have been allowed to say such things about his "betters" without being put in his place. If she can accomplish that by manipulating the husband that she clearly also feels contempt for then even better.
Chris showed himself to be a solid professional by doing his best to make light of the slap and try to move on with the program. Will should have been immediately removed by security and Chris allowed to ad lib a routine about why Will couldn't be there to accept the award during the timeslot allocated for Will to receive the award.
