I have been thinking about returning for some time and have finally decided to reinstall this evening to see how things are. I am amazed at just how slow the download of both the initial installer was and then the subsequent 2gig or so download was after I ran the exe. What gives - I have superfast fibre broadband and this should have been downloaded in under 1 minute. Yet here I am 30 minutes later waiting on it to finish.
This is definitely not a problem on my side - has HTC got some kind of slow hosting or slow upload for the files?
I realise there may well be financial constraints to consider but from a 1st impressions pov it's not ideal.

Did you think to run a ping plot? To see if anything was going on?
-
Yeah no ping issues other than I'm in the UK but expected pingtimes, and no loss. I feel the hosting is putting out no more than 1 or 2 mb ps. Regardless its installed I'm not waiting longer than normal to download the map as well. I am pretty sure where the file is hosting has a limited upload or something.

Rgr.
.
I don't have fiber optic ,but do have 1 Gbps DL/ 500+ Mbps UL.....
My internet provider modem is usually the problem here....my router and network through out the home is wired and capable to 10Gbps....and I upgraded all that back in 2011, heh
Best of luck Connery

The stdshapes.res file can get very slow and take a long time.

I had the same problem when I tried to re-install AH3. Eventually, after getting no response from Hitech, it was suggested that I use the Stream servers to download the game, which I did. The initial download was much quicker, but more importantly, once installed, all the other files downloaded automatically. It was still slow, but this way without any issue.
It seems a roundabout route but it does work
Good luck
