Title: What's the darndest thing you've ever experienced or seen in your life?
Post by: -gg- on June 16, 2022, 09:38:25 PM
I'm not sure if it's the darndest thing, but I'll always remember this.

About 30 years ago I was putting new strings on my guitar. I loosened the strings and then cut them so that I could unwind them quicker.

I put the new strings on.

After I was done one of the guitar strings that I had taken off was sort of hooked on the carpet. I picked it up from the opposite end and the part that was hooked to the carpet flung off and went directly into the wall outlet that was about 3 ft away while it was just leaving my hand.

It left the giant burn mark in the shape of a guitar string across the wall and made a big glowing spark. The string was actually glowing orange for a second. Scared their crap out of me!

I mean what are the odds of that? Lol

It was a surprise still and fantastic to watch 95% of the media here actually wail whine and some cry when she lost

I would say the same thing about potato head and 2020 after seeing trump fill stadiums while corrupt china joe could not fill a fast food parking lot...but still won SOMEHOW...

2k mules shows one way

The other is how the left can get our media to preempt regular daytime and evening programming to broadcast their 1984 style political witch hunts...
First the Russian collusion impeachment attempt and now the 1/6 exaggeration

...all to prevent anyone outside their dc crime family from ever trying to run for potus again.

So you voted for Clinton but you still get rather deranged over her (to the point of playing 'but what about' when the other evil is mentioned).

If you didn't vote for DJT or HRC in the general election but you wrote in someone else then you didn't effectively vote at all (if you understand the reality of our current political system). Alas, one is free to do that whether it makes sense or not.

you think after recounts done by people that claimed fraud and not only did they recount proved biden won, they still insisting fraud.

meanwhile we have bigger things to do, like who killed tupac shakur, is biggie still alive, did we fake the moon landing?

dont even forget The Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity (PEIC or PACEI), also called the Voter Fraud Commission, was a Presidential Commission established by Donald Trump that ran from May 11, 2017 to January 3, 2018.  they disbanded without finding any fraud.

but sure let's talk about voting fraud.  The September 2019 registration application listed Trump’s legal residence as 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, the location of the White House. That created a potential problem for Trump: Florida law requires voters to be legal residents of the state. A month later, Trump resubmitted his application to use a Florida address and in March he voted by mail in Florida’s Republican primary.

is that voting fraud?  not sure, probably close to it.  didnt he move out of the white house jan 20, 2020?

so how did that recount go?

many people here dont agree with how you dress.  but we disagree and move on.  I dont give a crap.  but sorry karen, you are the karen.  somebody doesnt agree with you, that's life.  you on the other hand, cant face reality that trump lost, somehow he got cheated.  but you cant face the fact that of all the counts and recounts prove that he lost.  but of course he should have won, well because he filled stadiums.  hell justin bieber had more people in his stadium concerts, guess justin biever should have been president.  heck even sir paul mccarney could have won, oh you mean an american, taylor swift, she's cool as hell, hell even pretty

gina the only reason I brought up on how you dress is because we dont agree with other people.  you are stuck in your views about how to see other people while failing to see that others dont agree with you.  if you step back once in a while and think about it, you will get a different view.  trump lost, step back and see how I saw when trump won.  I was like wow, what happened, and I believe trump felt the same way.  he called the election he won as he got cheated. he didnt get cheated.  he just didnt expect to win, but he won and he said wow, what do i do.

he walked away with almost 300 million people donated to fight his I got cheated bs.  he spent 13 millions of it fighting his loss.

so please do donate to his i cant believe it's not butter nonsense. but if you step back, you can realize it's just bs, just like his foundation that was force to shut down.  biggest thing his foundation spent was 250k for a water fountain in front of his hotel, smallest 7 bucks to pay for his child's boy scouts dues.  really?

he donated his salary to some causes, but he spend a lot of time as his golf courses, guess which one is more?  dont forget the 1 million dollars he raised for vets, he even gave them a large check for the pictures, but guess what, not until a year later he actually sent a real check.  I could say more, but I am tired.  hail to the best president we ever had.

no, I would not believe that. If you were a real person and not a bot, you could join flamewarriors. Right now I have registrations shut down for everybody because I don't feel like keeping up with the work required to screen out bots, plus I don't really give two craps about that place. Also, registration because I'm not going to let Milo or Spitbull sneak back in.

if you want to join you can pm me and I'll make an account for you.

Also, you are still a member of ICOM. So I don't know what you're thinking. Anyone can join ICOM and I don't ban people for their beliefs or political posts.

My Flamewarriors account being deactivated is pretty much up there   :old:

You aren't missing much at FW.  If you don't like Trump or aren't an extreme ultra right conservative, the resident tards just call you a pedophile and threaten to put you in concentration camps, in front of a firing squad or thrown out of a helicopter.  There isn't any place for a discussion or debate.  FW should be renamed "Laz's Lemon Party".

Oh...for the record, -gg- looks good in a dress, though her choices in pumps leaves a lot to be desired for.

Dolby, I checked and you still have an account at the original flame warriors website. I think what happened was that when I moved flame warriors not everybody rejoined. So there's basically two flame warriors. One is the old version that nobody goes to anymore and the newer version was the one that I made to be a public forum.

Hi, ack-ack.

You should come join icom. I always liked you and I always had fun flying and talking with you on vox.

I'm not sure many people have ever seen me in a dress. I don't think that you have?

At that last get together over at laz's house I was wearing jeans and a t-shirt and I was wearing chunky sandals.

I don't normally wear a dress though. I usually wear pretty casual clothes. Jeans and shorts, t-shirts, etc and I like platform sandals.

I know that's what you think. So tell me, why do you think that I never banned you at FW in 14 years? You trolled Trump crap every single day probably.

Maybe there is another reason why you and a couple of others have been banned at ICOM. It's called removing the trash.

Semp is not banned. Wayne is not banned and is my friend and they are both full on liberals.

To be fair...   I don't think you would want most of your posts there to be shared with others who know you.  They would be disappointed.  So complaining about how others talk to you while ignoring how you talk to them is not overly sincere.  Speaking of not sincere, at least 95% of posts mentioning Trump come from Milo and others like you when trolling threads onto stupid name calling fests complete with melt down level rants.

The threads are about just news and people's lives. People share stuff and talk about normal things.

I wonder why you were there for 14 years then? Makes me wonder the motivations of some people. I used to chuckle to myself when members would  say condescending things about the membership, as though they were not a part of that membership.

I don't think too much about what people do or think though. I like people. If people posted stuff I wasn't interested in I'd just not post in that thread. Like the gun forum. Never went in there much.

I let people say whatever they want over there. Some people choose to just be turds with that freedom.

Parsed quote from a long speech and put into Milo’s context.

Milo must be a politician or part of the media…

This is just a small part of the speech and part mentioned:

‘ So this was very exciting tonight. But I’ll tell you it looks like we won by a lot evangelicals. I love evangelicals, and I have to tell you pastor [Robert] Jeffress has been so incredible on television and elsewhere. He has been great. And as you know Liberty University—do we love Liberty University? Huh? Jerry Falwell Jr., an unbelievable guy, and he has been with us and with us from the beginning, and I want to thank Jerry and his family. It’s been amazing, the relationship. So we won the evangelicals.

We won with young. We won with old. We won with highly educated. We won with poorly educated. I love the poorly educated. We’re the smartest people, we’re the most loyal people, and you know what I’m happy about? Because I’ve been saying it for a long time. 46% were the Hispanics—46%, No. 1 one with Hispanics. I’m really happy about that. So I’m very proud of you, this is an amazing night. I love the country, I love the country.‘  - DJT

He's the 10th highest poster with over 24,000 posts on both versions combined.  over 11,000 on the new FW that only opened in 2017.

Well he was called a racist, xenophobic, and described as fear mongering for trying to initiate a travel ban in the infancy of it here. Later on he was criticized for not ordering a travel ban sooner! What was he supposed to do?

To your 2nd point:

I once thought so too. A close friend was living in Thailand on September 11th and I asked him what was it like there, to which he replied, “it was blip on the radar for a couple days.”

You must be incredibly stupid.

Beyond not agreeing with your politics, what reason do you have that the person you are calling stupid is actually stupid?  The problem with name calling is it often takes away from an actual point.  The world should not be my team vs your team or someone is stupid because they disagree with me.  That sort of thinking does no one any favors especially the person who thinks that way.

No doubt, calling someone stupid who is actually stupid like Milo, for example, is a reasonably defendable claim.

I'm not going to speak for GG but I am pointing out that everyone has good points and bad to their personalities and achievements.  One could say , for example, that as president trump did good things for the country and there are other parts of his personality that were not good for the country.  Beyond that, there is room for discussion.  No person would meet everyone's expectations of the best or worst but when you approach the conversation like you did, you leave no room for conversation at all.  At that point you are stuck in the Milo or Arlo game of simply trolling and wasting everyone's efforts who want something better than endless trash talk.

I don't think GG would compare  trump to washington since she said "modern president" .

Hitler did good for Germany as did Mussolini for Italy.

What good things specifically?  There must be many to be rated as one of the best presidents in modern history or possibly all US history since Washington was first.

I'm thinking the C-Span ranking is a little more closer to the truth.

Many from stuffed unsecured ballot boxes

There is now evidence of payment for ballots and abusive drop box stuffing but no one cares..

Why? Both hated the outsider and wanted/ needed him removed..so it happened..

NPR receives funding from a range of sources. According to Influence Watch, an online monitor of public policy influence, in 2017, the media outlet “earned 38% of its revenue from individual contributions; 19% from corporate sponsorship and licensing; 10% from foundation donations; 10% from university licensing and donations; 8% from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting; and 4% from federal, state, and local governments via member stations.”

What possible metric has Trump being one of the best presidents ever, comparable to Washington? Beyond the stupidity of a person making that claim.

Trump was just nuts enough to keep everyone honest in the US and over seas. Nobody wanted to take a chance and push him too far. Taxes went down, gas was down, unemployment was down all because everyone was afraid of what Trump would do if they pushed there own agenda. But hey, thats just my opinion  :D

One thing that will be paying dividends for a generation are all of the judges that Trump appointed. 234 of them, including three for the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court is about ready to make some major decisions on the Second Amendment ( New York conceal carry outside home), Abortion, Religious liberty, Climate change and Immigration.

Trump effectively blocked liberal insanity in the courts and it will be that way for a LONG time.

By the way, how many people here are willing to admit that they voted for Biden? If so, how do you think things have been going so far?

One of the darndest things I’ve seen was while flying the wing of a squadron mate who was armed with a pair of AIM-4 Falcon missiles, intent on shooting down a Bomarc missile cruising at 65,000 feet and at Mach 2.5.

We were over the Gulf of Mexico waiting for this thing to launch from near Elgin AFB.  We were at loiter speed of 280 kts in our F-106s trying to save fuel.  Lead had briefed the GCI controller to give us warning before it launched so we could accelerate and be over the Mach before starting a fly up to shoot the Bomarc.  We were orbiting about a 100 miles south of the beach with our noses pointed south, when, you guessed it.  The GCI controller excitedly screamed over the radio “IT JUST LAUNCHED!”  So, as lead goes to full AB, I follow suit and crank around with him to point north.  As we get a view north, still subsonic, and accelerating as fast as possible, we see this contrail coming off the beach, climbing like a home sick angel, and accelerating faster than anything I’d ever seen.  Lead calls a radar contact, and starts the nose up just as we hit Mach 1.  I’m hanging on the wing and following with my radar as lead calls a Judy.  Shortly thereafter, his weapons bay doors slam open, the Falcon rails snap down in the supersonic wind stream, and the two missiles launch with gusto toward the Bomarc, now traveling at near warp speed…………

Very similar to the 90's when clinton took over after bush sr...
The lack of/decline of real leadership in the United States then emboldened our enemies to plan 911 and provide the military complex with a very profitable war for the next 20 years..
Do you think lance armstrong potato head is feared by anyone? Well besides the American people who didn't vote for him...

Gina wants some life experiences.

Only 2 times did I flip the boat while racing.

In Feb '78 drove to Miami to race and during the race coming out from shadow of the stadium the nose began to rise (wind) and wouldn't come back down with negative motor trim > over backwards. First thing I did when I surfaced was to do a spin to look for any sharks. One could see their fins out in the bay.

The 2cd time was later that year  while racing in the old Welland canal. It was a one pin turn and the right pickle of my boat got into the prop wash off another boat. Drove the nose under water and did a barrel roll. Took a few second to realize I was upside down and trapped in the cockpit > life jacket wanted to go up but had to go down to get out. Pushed hard enough to escape by pushing thru part of the fibre glass cowl (got a scar on the shoulder from that). Still couldn't breath as the full face helmet was full of water. Had to open the visor to let the water out.

THE REST OF THE STORY……….

Spelling correction from earlier “Eglin” vs “Elgin”.

So there we were zooming up toward this Bomarc that was already at altitude and closing at an incredibly fast rate.  The Bomarc was at Mach 2.5 and we were just over Mach 1.0, with the preplanned intention of being at 1.5 or greater so we would have plenty of fly up energy to shoot this thing in the face.  Well, we didn’t.  When lead let the pair of Falcons go, we were pitched up 45 degrees or more.  That didn’t sit well with the two AIM-4s.  Our pitch attitude was more than they could handle, resulting in them corkscrewing into the wild blue, well behind the Bomarc, that passed us like we were sitting at a bus stop waiting for the 3:05.

About that time, this thick white contrail starts flowing out of my bud’s tail pipe and he states that he’s lost his generator.  My casual reply “I think you lost more than that”.  While calmly stating “ahh sXXt”, he smoothly rolls his big iron triangle over on its back and pulls the nose down to get into a good air start envelope, with me dutifully hanging on his wing.  We reach an appropriate altitude and airspeed for him to attempt and air start.  It didn’t start.  Neither did the next four attempts.  Since we are about 120 miles away from Tyndall AFB, things were getting a bit tense, not so much for me but, I was there in spirit.  Since this wasn’t working, he went to a normal ground start procedure.  Bingo!  The great white contrail sputtered and disappeared.  His engine spun up and reacted normally from there on.  Out of an abundance of caution, he declared an emergency and we proceeded to high key for an SFO (simulated flame out) pattern.  The text book version of an SFO was to arrive over the approach end of the runway at 12,000 feet above the runway, extend the landing gear, dive at the runway in a 360 turn at 280 knots, aim for the first third of the runway, and touchdown two minutes later.  We did all of the above with me hanging on the wing enjoying the ride.  As we rolled out on final and it was clear he had the runway well in hand I went around for some extra flying time.

After parking the jets, we went to maintenance debrief.  He had way more to debrief than I but, we were temporary heroes for getting the jets back on the ground without scraping the paint or making anyone bleed (Orville & Wilbur’s first two rules of aviation).  Of course, our escapade attracted all the squadron leadership and some of the Wing strap hangers.  Our Ops Officer asked what our highest altitude was as we rolled over and pulled down.  “Oh, not more than 50,000 feet boss!”  (Ahhh, yeah, we were studying our altimeters while in an extreme nose up attitude with one of our spare engines flamed out and rolling over to get quickly headed downhill.) You see, it was strictly forbidden to fly above 50,000 feet without a pressure suit since the TUC (Time of Useful Consciousness) was nil (5 seconds) in the event of a rapid depressurization of the cockpit. With a flamed out engine, that’s a very real possibility.  With all the ream of questions and debriefs complete, we headed VFR direct to the O’Club and started beer consumption, for no particular reason, other than we could.

The next day, he and I rolled into our TDY squadron to brief for the days flying fun.  Our Ops O was waiting for us and spirited us into an empty briefing room and shut the door.  Ru Ro! He asks again, “What was your max altitude yesterday?”  “Not above 50,000 feet, boss” we both echoed.  He proceeded to tell us about a rudimentary flight data recorder that the fire control computer had, that only the maintenance crews ever messed with or knew about.  He proceeded to tell my bud that he was much closer to 60,000 feet than 50.  He then turned my direction and advised that I was well above 55,000 feet but not as close to 60 as my fearless leader was.  In closing, with a smile on his face, he chastised us with “Nice job.  Don’t do that again!”  Yes sir!

Plenty, recently. I spent a few years living in the southern Philippines up until over a year ago. Seen a lot of crazy, innovative...  stuff. Going back early next year.

Wow. Thanks for sharing that Milo.

How fast were you going when you crashed those?

I'm super afraid of being in the water in the ocean. That would scare the crap out of me being in the water like that and looking for sharks the first thing I would do too. Lol but I would want to get the hell out of the water as fast as possible!

The scariest thing for me though would be upside down and trapped in that boat. Being disorientated and feeling the life jacket pushing up when you know you got to push down. I'll bet you a lot of people will get confused and drown because of that.

In Miami, was around 80mph. Busted up the boat a little bit. The barrel roll was maybe 40mph. Realized I was upside down when the air turned green and the sound was funny. Was under water for probably 30 seconds minimum. I was more concerned about getting run over by another boat than drowning.

A few years earlier guy in a flat bottom boat was doing over 100mph when he hit a manatee. Boat destroyed but driver OK.

The darndest thing you've ever experienced or seen in your life....well I could say a lot of things but only a few would be believed.

1) It just so happened today that I stumbled across the game WW2Online that came out 20+ years ago. We complained about better graphics in this game 20 years ago.
2) Hookers that were willing to talk without wanting to charge for it....yes Virginia it is true. Some hookers just like to talk while sitting at the bar trolling for some old dude to give them a couple of hundred bucks to get a bedtime story. The old "Round Bar" at the Las Vegas Hilton was where it was at!
3) Better not get into the politics of idiots falling off stopped bicycles in Delaware.

We typically cruised the Six at 45 or higher (but not above 50) at .94 Mach/540 kts.  The only other thing I ever saw above me was the trusty Lear Jet on occasion.  Long range cruise in the Six was .88 mach but, no one could stand to fly that slow.

no, I would not believe that.

Anyone can join ICOM and I don't ban people for their beliefs or political posts.

i dont post on icom because it's just an I love trump website.  and if you dont, what is it the last reply i got?.  you cannot make a coherence sentence.  if i cannot make a coherent sentence then those who argue with me, are just, cannot even come up with the right word or words. worst that me?  I dont know.

That is completely false. Why don't you go there right now and look for a thread about Trump? Look at all the threads there right now and what the subjects are.

Go take a look at the subjects over there. I think the problem might have been the things that you choose to see and participate in. You focus on political stuff when that such a small percentage of what's over there.

The clear intent of that form is to have fun and to be nice. I don't know why someone would come over there and just start serving the pot and being combative. My whole point of opening that place after running flame warriors with to have something different. I was happy to have you over there. I was happy to have Milo and anyone else over there. Even Arlo.

People's opinions on politics are not why some of those people are not there anymore. It's because they were just being asses.

I practically begged Arlo to post about things that interested him and not politics. Then I was called a right-wing extremist.

I don't enjoy arguing and bickering. It's pointless to try to argue about politics, so I try not to.

To see in disbeief how my gunner lined up an Elk on a shooting range, with the full intention to send a 9cm HEAT shell into it.

Fortunately I had time to overide the turret and traversed it away from the poor thing, and my loader slapped on the safety lever.

Me and my friend, aged about 10, were in his room and he was playing "The Streak" on his record player. I think we played it a couple times when his brother Nelson - maybe 18, yelled at him for playing it. It was really annoying him. He said he'd smash it if we played it again. So 5 seconds after Nelson left the room, my friend played it again.

Nelson re-entered the room and proceeded to smash the record.

That was just about the darndest thing!
